Pedigree? Food any Good?

So, I used to use Wellness, but lately everyone seems to be having trouble with the food and I would not like my dogs to be next. My mother is telling me to try Pedigree, but I wanted to know what you all thought about it and what food I should get..

 • I used to feed my dogs Pedigree before I switched to Taste of the Wild. It's a poor quality food and in my opinion you are taking a big step backwards from Wellness. Pedigree is full of corn which is a filler that dogs can't digest. Therefore, you're feeding your dog more than you would on a higher quality kibble. When I fed it, Kaiser was eating nearly 12 cups a day. He only ate 5 cups of Taste of the Wild. It may have cost more but I was feeding less and saving money in the long run.

Maybe try something of similar quality to Wellness and price. Check out NutriSource or Fromm. There are many, many more quality foods out there.
This is one of my favorite websites.
<a href="http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/

My dog has a grain allergy so she has to eat a grain free kibble. When she was on Pedigree, she itched, shed horribly, and had huge bald spots. She wasn't happy at all. A lot of dogs do fine on a low quality food. But remember, high quality kibble equals a long, healthy life for your dog.
 • I've had doubts about Pedigree and I didn't think it would be a good change for my dog. It's mainly my new dog, Lucky who I am moving off of Wellness. My other dogs have been on it for years with no problems but Lukcy doesnt eat the food and I notice he is starting to itch more and more and his coat is rough. I just looked at Pedigrees website and saw a ton of Bu-Products and Meals that I am not happy with. Thanks for the reply! I will check out the website!
 • I use wet Pedigree just as a treat for my dog when I feel nice >.>

Otherwise he gets Chappie with Chicken (kibble) twice a day. Is a very good low cost bland food for those with dodgy tummies. Which he has lived on for at least 2yrs.

 • I wouldn't feed them Pedigree, but I am very picky about my dog's food and am willing (and able) to shell out $60 for a bag.

Like Zagari, I reply on Dog Food Advisor. <3

 • I'm willing to pay good money for my dogs health and food. Why rand do you use, Kazuko?

I am currently looking at Halo brand, anyone have comments on that?
 • Halo is supposed to be good. I switch my dog's food every 1-3 bags, it helps keep their digestive tract healthy. I've fed mine Blue Buffalo Wilderness (Duck, Chicken and Lamb) and recently switched brands to Nature's Variety Instinct (Rabbit). Next we will probably try the Wild Boar or Venison flavors.

 • I have one dog currently on Halo and she loves it, hasn`t had any issues with it which is good considering she was abruptly switched to it. I feed my other dog Natural Balance and Performatrin, both seem to be wonderful for her, Halo is a good small kibble for little dogs where as the other 2 are "normal sized"

 • We ran to Pet Smart today and I got him a dry bad of Halo and a few cans of wet food from Blue Buffalo, so we will see how it goes!
 • I can't really say much about the dry Halo other than it stinks!!! but I love the canned food. Some of it has noodles in there! lol We got a lot of it donated at the shelter.
 • That's so nice to donate that! I have done that before, I donated a bunch of Wellness when I was on that brand. So far with the food, he is doing good. He scarfed down the wet food from Blue Buffallo and he ate the little bit of Halo food that I gave him, so he likes it, which is good:)
