Schutzhund Training Question

I've been wondering about this for a while now. I've looked at some of the event guides and one said that a schutzhund dog should be trained with high aggression. I know its a 3 part event for protection, obedience, and tracking. The guides I've looked at says high aggression for protection and that obedience and tracking need low aggression. I've looked at several completed schutzhund events and I see dogs that place 1st-3rd fairly regularly with some having low aggression and other high. So my question is when training for schutzhund where should aggression fall?

 • Well My Dogs do quite well in Schutzhund and their aggro was born Capped. I personally have good tracking dogs so if your dogs excell at 2 of the 3 events you usually do ok or fairly well.

 • Haha, I assume you're asking because of the Schutzhund challenge? XD There is a lot of confusion on the aggro for Schutz. But if you look at the challenge results from last year, the top three spots were all taken by dogs with very low aggro. Of course, eventing has changed a bit, so you might want to run some tests before you train your final dogs.

 • Schutzhund events have three different scores that total up to a complete score. Low aggro does better because overall 10% cones from low aggro overall and 5% comes from higher aggro. Therefore lower aggro does better
 • Thanks for the replies everyone, they help quite a bit :)

Frost is is party because of the schutzhund challenge ;) I'm interested in it and am planning to enter. But I've also been curious about it for a while, I plan to breed some lines for this event in the future so I think I'll use my challenge dogs as a test run. I did see that last years champs had low aggro like the herding dogs do.

Vamp this makes since, thanks for putting it that way, clears up the confusion quite well.
