Staples...

IN THE HEAD.

So last Saturday my family and I traveled to a friend's house in Cali to visit. We stayed until yesterday. We were supposed to stay until today; but yesterday morning I got up, went into my friend's huge, beautiful backyard... and slipped. Fell. Then smashed the right side of the back of my head against a stack of bricks. -__- My cousin came running outside after hearing the crash (since I also fell on a pile of glass bottles from a party we had) (I totally fall in the WRONG places). The force from my fall knocked me unconcious. When my cousin woke me up I laughed a little, asked what happened, then dusted myself off as if nothing happened. I told her I was fine and tried to shove her off me. I hate being doted over. However, she refused to leave me alone and instead dragged me into my mother's guestroom. -__o It was only six in the morning and my parents were still asleep. As soon as my cousin woke my mom up and I insisted that I was okay for the fifth time, blood started pouring down my neck and forehead. MY MOTHER FREAKED OUT. Seriously. Talk about bad timing, eh? Only when I saw the blood did it start to hurt. Of course. -__- They rushed me to the hospital. There was no need to rush though, because even with blood all over my head, neck and face, the hospital didn't take me in for about an hour. For that entire hour I was in literally the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. But I refused to cry. Although if I had started bawling my eyes out and screaming bloody murder they probably would've admitted me sooner. Anyway, when I eventually got into a room with a nurse, she took one look at my head and FLIPPED out. That wasn't very comforting. She called a doctor immediately and when HE took a look he semi-hollered to dial 911. -__- Turns out I needed to go somewhere that I could get a catscan because the doctor said my SKULL was exposed. After getting ten staples in my head, I got that scan, and found out that I have a concussion. ALSO, the scan exposed my body to some major radiation, which could cause cancer in the following years. AND on top of all that the [Edited, do not post inappropriate references] bottles cut up my side near my ribs, so I needed some stitches.

Now I've got a bunch of meds, a stapled head, and my cuts are -killing- me. I slept for thirteen hours so far. Just got up to check on VP. xD (Addict much?) My question is: Am I allowed to post pics of my staples?? I know you wanna see!!!!
Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD

 • That's absolutely horrible they took so long. Hospitals are stupid. You should have cried bloody murder just to make them, y'know, care about the person covered in blood.. I hate hearing stories where stuff like that happens, makes me mad. Continuing before I go into a useless rant about hospitals. Every one I've ever been to takes about four to five hours to actually process you and such. And for the most part, the doctors and nurses couldn't care about you one bit. A dentist I know of was even responsible for some poor kid's death; that's how much they don't care.

Worst pain I've ever been in is having Rat-bite fever, aka Sodoko. Unnoticed of course by my family; for some reason being unable to walk or speak makes you invisible. Anyway, every single muscle in my body was in agony, and my joints were the exact same way, so I was basically crippled and walking was incredibly difficult. I remember I think, during the worst bout of it, I had to make it from my bedroom from my dad's room, wake him up and ask where medicine was. It took about about 10 minutes to get to his door, which was literally right down the hall, and it was all for nothing because I didn't even have the strength to knock hard enough to wake him up, nor to yell louder than a whisper. I didn't even walk, I crawled half on my knees half on my stomach or something like that. This, a fever of 104-105, and an incredibly horrible migrane lasted for around 2 weeks. About 2 weeks afterwards my mom found out and within 2 days I was in a hospital and the nurse told me it was more than likely rat-bit fever as there was another case besides me recently, but there was no way to really tell because it was already over. I think the untreated fatality rate is somewhere near 14%.

Thankfully I don't remember it very much, so it doesn't effect me anymore, but the downside is that I'm not actually immune to pain like I should be. I was only 12, I think. I'd say we're pretty equal though; you might even have me beat because I can't even properly comprehend how much pain it would be to have your head cracked open like that.. o_o You were probably in shock to start out with.

 • ... maybe its a good thing you aren't going to CPE Nationals... You would hit off all three contacts, smack every pole in the weaves, face plant into all the jumps and trip over all the tunnels before poor Laru even got off the start line.

 • @Emme - You do all that at -every- competition. -__-

@Pheonix - I once stayed in bed for three whole months. Fever at 105-106. I could barely speak, couldn't move, and eating hurt like all hell so I lost twenty pounds and only weighed around 85 for a long time. Recovery took more then a year, and I just barely put all the weight back on. I can honestly say that splitting my head and hitting my skull hurt a bit more. xD But we had different sicknesses, so we'll never really know until I get rabbit-bite fever or you get your skull cracked. O_O

-shoves you into pile of bricks-

Now we shall know...

xD

 • Zyn, I think pain from being injured versus being sick are too different worlds. So Id agree that cracking your skull is worse right off the bat. XD

 • Hope you get better soon Zyn...

And our hospitals are soo much better here... I banged my arm (getting on the bus I tripped over and smacked my elbow on the floor of the bus), and thought I could have possibly broken it (was not broken), but I managed to get in the room straight away and got an xray within the hour... turned out i'd sprained my bicep in my right arm... this was like 3months ago now and my arm is still not completely better.

And zyn it sounds really really painful, bottles are not the correct place to fall... *cuddles to Zyn*

 • Yes. I always choose the worst possible places to stumble. The backyard was HUGE and my body chose the -only- dangerous place in the entire yard to fall. Sorry about your arm, I sprained mine wrestling with the boyfriend, felt like my arm had snapped. That's what I get for playing rough (kicks to the head, elbows to the stomach, knees to the face... I kick my boyfriend's ass most of the time..) xD Anyway, I get the staples taken out in two hours. :D Im happy.. but kinda scared. My doctor's a total ditz. Getting them taken out today means I gotta get pics RIGHT NOW. Ana's confirmed that I can post pics of the staples.. but not of my actual cracked skull. xD So the pics should be up soon. Taking them now. Then heading to my appointment. Wish me luck eh? Let's hope my doctor doesn't rip another hole in my head.
