Five photos to tell a story?

In my photography class, I'm assigned to develop five photos in order to tell a story through them. I totally lack creativity and am terrible at stuff like this because I'm much better at telling stories with words - that's just what I'm accustomed to. I have no problem being able to find subjects for my photos but this has just stumped me.

I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my photos. My friends are doing something simple like the life stage of dandelions but I just can't bring myself to put minimal effort and thought into this project. AGH, lol.

Any ideas? So far my partner hasn't been of any help. She's only been doing her Bio homework during the classes and has contributed less than some of my fellow classmates. Help, guys! You have creative juices flowing in you. ;D I need something that's not too difficult though. I'd prefer something that doesn't have to do with people - no one likes to cooperate around here. xD But I can do some things people-related.

Thank yoooou! <3

  • lol @ the ant idea.. that'd be cute!!

I know that if this was my project my animals would definitely be involved. I'd probably take my dogs to the park and photograph them making friends/ playing/ conflicts and solutions.. etc.. and put a story together through that.
Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD
  • I wanted to use my dogs but the only dogs they really get to interact with is each other because we have no dog parks here. And I can't find a decent story to go with photos of them being at home. Seems too boring.

The ant one would be cute but they're such small little buggers. xD They wouldnt fill up much of the photographs.
  • Dogs in animal shelters... Really easy yet complex stories they have to tell. They're full of so much emotion and it'd be a great way to help out by spreading the word of your local humane society, even if it is only in your classroom. (: I did a creative narrative story about a shelter dog who I helped volunteer.. His story was so touching that I couldn't help myself. To my surprise, I got an A. At the end of the paper, I included a real photo of the dog and the teacher said she loved the story. Maybe you can do something like that through your photos. Find a dog with a really big story and try to portray that through photo :D
  • How about the life of a homeless person, Say trying to get food for the day. you could show him waking up on the street, making a "Hungry please help" Sign, Then showing him standing in traffic with the sign hoping to get change. Then get him something like an apple. The photo would look cool if it were black and white with only the apple red. And whatever else you want him to do, and then you can show him falling asleep at the end of the day, on the street again. This would be a wake up call for the other students.

Found this online. Thought it was a good idea. xD It was posted as a suggestion to someone doing a project like yours, but that someone didn't use it. Maybe it'll give you an idea. This type of photo-story would be emotionally deep, I would give a good grade for that. :D

  • I don't know if this really tells a story, but what about your doggies day/night? Like when he wakes up in the morning, then eats, plays, eats dinner, goes to sleep? I don't know, lol. xD

  • I had to do a project like this once!

I did hands. Yes, hands. I took a series of pictures starting with a baby's hands, then a toddler, then an elementary child, then a middle schooler, a high schooler, and adult, and an elderly person.

You could hands or feet, or maybe even the backs of people's heads! lol

  • I'm still having troubles with this project. Everyone's ideas are great but I'm pressed for time and I honestly don't know any little kids for this. xD
  • Have you ever thought of maybe a bullying scene? Make some kid be bullied for being smart them in the last picture have him in a business suit with a lot of money and the bully serving him a burger from McDonalds xD
