  • If you want to do a quick, inbred line, try: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=64195"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">viewtopic.php?f=16&t=64195</a><br><br>If you want to do a pure line, these are handy for organizing the line (for any line, organization is key!) <a href="http://virtualpups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=68671"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">viewtopic.php?f=16&t=68671</a><br><br>Lines are very simple in concept, it's the execution that can get tedious (depending upon the breed you choose to work with.) I start all my pure lines with 8 imports (4 males, 4 females.) From there I train the imports close to infertile age (12.5.0 for males, 11.6.0 for females) or close to life expectancy if it is a short-lived breed. I always either groom or RH. Whichever I choose depends upon which breed I am working with and their starting stats (if low aggro, RH, otherwise, groom.) Then breed, choose the pup with the best hyper (usually, sometimes I pick for other stats if hyper isn't going to be an issue) and continue the line. Once my 8-import line is done, I have either reached my goal of 10x4 or I need to add more. In the latter case, do another 8-import line and at the end of it choose the best pup of the gender opposite of the last pup of your first line (so if the first line produced a good male, you'd pick the best female from your second line.) Breed those two together and you have completed a 16-import line. If they still have not hit, keep going.
  • Thanks Aziu! I -really- want to get the Neapolitan Mastiff to 10x4. Seems like it has only ever been able to get to 9x4 and I really love the breed but if I do this breed I have a feeling it is going to take a -lot- of imports lol do You have anymore suggestions now that you know the breed of choice?

  • Also I forgot to ask this but what is the big difference in the in-bred and pure-bred lines besides the obvious? Like are in-bred not as "good" of lines as pure-bred? just curious because I'm still trying to decide which technique to use.

  • As far as I can tell, the two techniques are very similar once you get into an intensive line, with the exception that, if your breed takes many many generations and has only incremental increases, the pure line would require a lot more dogs and training. The inbred line can get more leaps and bounds sometimes with a few less dogs, assuming the breed is not difficult to get to 10x4s.
  • I do NOT recommend the inbred line for dogs who obviously won't reach 10x4s quickly. After a certain number of generations, stats hardly rise at all. Sometimes they don't even rise and they start to decrease or stay the same. Just a warning. I don't use that method anymore, the standard 8 import, 16 import, 32 import etc has worked so much better for me and has more of a guarantee, in my opinion. (:
  • If you want I have the html code for Oriyana's breed charts. You can enter links and everything so that you can view your dogs all from one page. Pm me with the number of imports that you start your line with and I'll pass the code to you

<br><br><br>Really? I've been doing a semi-inbred line thing for a long time now, and I haven't seen this happen yet. Might be because I'm constantly adding new dogs to it. Heh. I'll keep this in mind. Thanks for the not-directed-at-me tip.

<br><br>It might be more effective if you add new dogs like you have. I hadn't tried that. <br><br>Sorry for hijacking your thread, Tiff!
  • No its fine all this is good information to know =D

  • This info has helped me a lot too...and I hope you don't mind I'm adding on to your questioning,Tiff, but I'm curious what age would be best to stop training at for a breed whose life expectancy is 12 years?

  • If you have to lease it to a breeding kennel, you will want to stop the training 8 weeks prior to the death age, or else you won't be able to lease it. So your dog has a lifespan of 12, you'll want to stop no later than 11.10.0. If you can sell your dog to the breeding kennel, then you can train it all the way up to 12 without a problem. <br><br>Aside from that, if it's a male I'd say train to 11.10.0 or 12 if you have a breeding kennel. <br>If it's a female, I'd recommend 11.8.0 so it gives you 2 breedings. Other ages I've seen players stop at include: 11, 11.3, 11.5, and 11.6. It just matters how many breedings you want to get out of the female prior to her death. An exception for this though, if you're on the last generation and know you're likely to get 10x4s, I would recommend stopping at 11 or 11.3.0. This provides you with more breedings, ideally providing you with more 10x4s to do as you please with.

    On an indefinite hiatus.
  • Okay, thanks a lot!I think maybe I'll stop at 11.5.0,just so I can get more breedings out of the female.<br>Thanks again for you help!

  • I usually stop at 11, but on my imports I barely focus on RHing. I don't really bother raising it to 20 as it is an easy stat to raise anyway. Basically I LG until loyalty hits 600 and keep going. Females I train to 11.0.0, just so I can get more breeding out of her and will do so until she reaches infertile age. Out of all the pups she produces, I choose the best one. My males I train right up to 12.0.0, but I've noticed that a lot of my males have worse stats than my females. <br><br>Also, if your making a line to specialize in an event... Make sure you check what stats are best for that event and I focus a lot on that one, making sure that I choose the best of the best so I can get the best at the end.<br><br>I know a lot of it comes down to A/C stats, but if I want I'll rot them away in a boarding kennel for a while after... Though I hate doing so.
  • Alrighty everyone. I need help again xD<br>I am on my Gen 3's right now and I know I am not going to get 10x4 with my 4th gen pup.<br>Where do I go from here?<br>Here is my kennel link and has the table thing (can't think of what its called right now) xD<br><a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=445256"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=445256</a><br>Any help would be appreciated!
