Poor Pooch..

So my dog roadrunner is scared of storms and will just shake uncontrollably during the whole thing and he is always right next to someone trying to feel safe or something.. lol.. So I was wondering if any of your guys animals are also deathly afraid of storms?

  • Aww my dog Charlie (we had him when I was younger since I no longer have any pets) was seriously scared of storms, he'd hide under my parents bed until it was over. And my cat used to be afraid too and when they were both together they would hide together though they hated each other at any other time

  • Awww, yea my cat Pepper is like loving the storms or something.. o.O She is like running around looking out the windows and chirping at the lightening.. She is my crazy little panther as I caller her xD Her nickname is Lil P. So either she loves the storms or has a weird way of dealing with them xD

  • My dog Scout is terrified of storms. As in she nearly gave herself a heatstroke one night because she shivered so hard. Her temp was raging and i had to let her sleep with me. Not too comfortable for me but she's okay, Now if i suspect a storm i give her 4ccs of childs moltrin and it calms her down a bit.
  • I've said this before, the ONLY thing my Laru is afraid of is thunder. She'll chase after the loudest, biggest rig.. she'll tackle men 300 pounds and heavier.. but during a storm she is GLUED to my side. It's the only time that we switch places, and it becomes my job to protect her. xD I think the scary thing about thunder is that you can't see it. So my dog feels as though there's a threat, but she's defenseless.

  • Pookie could care less about thunderstorms.. She'll sleep through them! It's the fire alarm she's afraid of. She'll follow you around until you pick her up, and if you don't, she'll get out of wack for the rest of the day. Most of the time, the fire alarm goes off because of the oven.. So now Pookie freaks out whenever we use the oven. We think it hurts her ears.. And like Zyn said, it's another thing they can't see.

  • Kaiser, my Great Dane, was terrified of thunder and also fireworks. I hated 4th of July and New Year's because he would bark and just plain freak out during that time. He wasn't as bad with thunder as it seemed to be quieter than the fireworks. I never found anything that would help him though those times. Before he died, I was looking at buying him a Thunder Shirt. I was hoping that would work but I never got the chance to use it.
I'm sorry about your loss, but my dog does the same thing. I think he is more deathly afraid of fireworks than thunder. I remember when we first got him and didn't know about him being afraid and we took him to our 4th of July fireworks and..boy that was bad idea. lol He was so scared I felt sorry for the poor guy. Our other dog at the time Lucky, who passed away he would just bark at all of them lol I think he was annoying the other people xD Least to say we never took them again lol xP

    \\

I was fixing to comment about Thunder Shirts as soon as I saw this post.

They are GREAT to have. I have never seen a dog that didn't calm down to some degree with one on.

They can be kind of expensive (depending on what you like to invest into your dog) But are great for the dog and can help the dog cope through most situations. (:
  • Hmm never heard of of one of those.. What are they exactly?

  • I tried a thunder-shirt on my boyfriend's dog, it didn't work for that Cane Corso. We put the shirt on my Dogue De Bordeaux instead and he got extremely aggressive towards my dad while wearing it, I think it annoyed him. It was a waste of my money, but perhaps I just own abnormal dogs.
