Excited?? BULLY SHOW!!

edited January 2012 in Vent
Im going to the 2012 Bully show for my state. Tons of people go, you can watch people show their dogs (bully breeds only) and see how their kennel is doing and how its improved this past year, you can also watch dogs do sports and show off their amazing muscle and power. I've always been a fan of Gator Head kennels. They breed these Am Bullys that have huge, natural muscle and big bully heads, but the dogs aren't overly short or compact, they just look like beasts. xD Last year I took my boy BULLY and his girlfriend Champagne, they were my nicest looking dogs at the time, and BULLY had game so he was able to participate in the extreme sports. All the owners were letting their small Pitbulls go then all of a sudden they see a 180 pound mastiff run onto the field and outrun their dogs. xD Everyone wanted to take pics of him and record him after that. This year I'm taking Laru and BULLY's son, Rage. Laru will be doing a rope and tire jump. (Putting a rope or tire high up in a tree, then letting the dog go and watching her run up the tree and grab onto the rope or tire, then hold on for as long as they can with just their jaws). And she'll also be doing a car pull. Rage, on the other hand, will be in the show. I cant wait! If there's ever a Bully show where you live, go to it! You don't have to own a certain breed, you can just be a fan. :)
Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD

  • It's no secret that I don't like American Bullies but it's great that the bully community puts on shows and events for their dogs. I'm happy that some of them actually do things with their animals rather than just have them sit around and make more mutant puppies. I've never been to a bully show but I've seen lots of pictures on Pit Bull Forum and other online pit bull communities. It seems like they're very open to letting other breeds in, for example a Saint Bernard or Dachshund. <br><br>Good luck with your pups. I want pictures!
  • Oh yeah. Other breeds are definitely welcome, what I meant was the show ring was meant specifically for the mutant dogs. xD I completely understand when you say you aren't a fan though. The first time I saw an Am Bully with an owner claiming he was a Pitbull I was outraged. I used to call American Bullies fat, mutant hippos. And then I received a beautiful bully that wasn't to compact, or to short, and basically looked like an APBT with just a bit more muscle, and I fell in love. He was a rare case of a well bred bully. I am not and will never be a fan of the breeders that create those short little fat mutant dogs, but I will definitely respect that they for some reason love the breed. The real APBT will always be my favorite. And I still highly recommend you go to a show, the pure bred Pitbulls I see there are absolutely amazing as well, and I'm sure you'd feel at home with your dogs too. :) Thank you!

  • Sweet! Are you taking any dogs with? <br>Well one good thing about having a strong dog, if you ever get stuck in your car you don't have to get dirty! XD

<br><br>Lol, I was just watching a video on that, there were a bunch of short stocky American Bullies with the song "I Want a Hippopatumas for Christmas". Then at the end he was showing the real Pit Bulls with long legs and lean bodies. People were getting mad because they didn't get the point.. Ether way, have fun!!

<br><br>lol. I'm taking Laru and Rage. True, if I ever got stuck id use my dog before I called a tow truck.. and Laru would enjoy it too.<br><br>@Emme, Ive watched so many vids where the Am Bully is being teased. And ive seen Bullys that were so compact and short they barely reached below my knee in height and their 'unmentionable parts' were dragging on the floor. I only dislike most dogs of the breed and their breeder because the way these dogs are built cant be healthy.. it even looks inhumane. But when it comes to the American Bullies that are tall, muscular, and physically healthy/actually able to do sports... Im a fan. Thanks, i will.

<br><br>One of my online "friends" made that video a couple years ago! I love it!<br><br>I will always respect a well bred bully that isn't too overdone. I hate it when their legs are so bowed and short they can hardly wobble. But, give me some leg and trim back some of that outrageous mass then I'm fine with them. As long as you call them what they are and NOT a pit bull. :) <br><br>If there were a show near me, I'd go for sure. It would be interesting to hear their opinions of the leggy terrier-type dogs compared to their massive tanks.

<br><br>Same here, I find that smost of the Pit Buls in rescue around here look better then all the breeders dogs because they have the long legs and lean bodies that I love. <br><br>

<br><br><br> They weren't being teased, more making a statement that this isn't right to do to dogs. Those poor dogs, that sounds like they must not really be able to move...

  • Referring to a dog as a hippo is teasing. In the videos I watched all they say is "these dogs are ugly, fat monsters and are an insult to bully breeds." I dont know if we've watched the same vids but they've rarely ever mentioned ANYTHING about the breeders themselves. The people who breed these dogs foully should be the ones talked about, its not like its the dogs fault he was born that way. If i dont like the way a dog looks i just turn away and shut my mouth, i would hate it if someone told me "your dog looks like a hippo", or if someone made a video featuring a hippo song and i saw a picture of my dog in it. lol. The only time i've ever said anything was when the dog was so badly bred he looked like he was in pain because of his structure. But I guess people will always prefer what they prefer and mutant dogs will always be bred. I never called my Am Bully a Pitbull. In fact, when people would say "your Pitbull is a beast!" Or "your Pitbull is so handsome!" I would quickly correct them. Hopefully at this next show the dogs are of good quality. :/

<br><br><br>I do apologies, when I watched it I was on my iPod and did not read the description. It was indeed made to poke fun at American Bullies. When I watched it I thought they were showing people that, "No, you shouldn't breed dogs that look like this".<br><br><br>

<br><br>I agree with this statement completely. Although it seems to be more with the bull breeds that people are mutilating and such, I often see it with Border Collies too when I go to AKC shows. I hate their standers for Border Collies, I saw a dog that looked like a square and a farmer would never have time to brush such long hair. All in all I think people are doing it more and more lately, breeding these dog with outrageous flaws for themselves, regardless of what the breed should look like. <br><br><br>I'll stop hacking your thread now though..

  • I saw recently a Neo Mastiff of now and a working Neo back in the day. There is a huge difference. The working Neo had no excess skin. The show type... well we all know what the show type looks like. <br><br>I think no matter what anyone things, people are going to be breeding dogs to the extreme. No one can stop them. It may not be right (or heck, who am I to say it's wrong) but it's happening. People are ruining what breeds were made for. Like Emme said, do you think most conformation bred Border Collies can round up hundreds of sheep like a working bred collie can? The same goes for mastiffs, APBTs, and Am Bullies. The show type can never do what the working type can do, plain and simple.

<br><br>That's a great example, with the neo :D<br><br>This dog, looks like a box. And the one I saw was worst. <a href="http://www.dogbreedpicture.net/data/media/108/Border Collie-hk.jpg&quot; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.dogbreedpicture.net/data/med ... lie-hk.jpg</a> (box Border)<br><a href="http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images16/BorderCollieWynne7Years3.JPG"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images16/Bo ... • BULLY was both a show and working dog. One of the extremely rare cases of course. Or maybe i just got lucky with that bear. The way our breeds were back then amazes me. I would love to own a dog like that. My uncle owns this APBT and Dogo Argentino that he raised as full on outdoor working/hunting dogs. Those dogs are just... unreal. He trained them to hunt boar because of the huge population problem, and they'll have a boar caught and down in seconds, ive never seen dogs with more game. Ive seen hunters, but not like them. I wanted to train my dogs to hunt, but I just dont have the heart to let them kill. Poor poor piglets.. :/ Anywho.. breeders will breed, and unless some kinda law is passed to ban that breeding.. dogs will continue to be bred incorrectly.. that's it.

  • I think it also depends on the club or registry. The ADBA is a conformation registry, however, they are gamey like the dogs of old. Most of the dogs are from old school fighting lines but are well proportioned and still capible of working for days. There is a huge difference between ADBA and UKC dogs. <br><br>So, I have no doubt your tosa looked good and could back it up in working ability. That's the perfect dog right there! Well, they have to have a good temperament too. :)
  • BULLY was a listener. He would go through anything if I told him to, be the friendliest dog in the world if I wanted, my neice used to play with his wrinkles non stop and try to ride him, he'd wag his tail and act like a puppy the whole time, the most precious thing I have ever seen. When a judge checked him out, he was as still and cooperative as any pro. But dang, when we got outside he could round up cattle then pull a tractor home if needed. He'd chase the coyotes off our land and guard our property at night. And when it came to bite work and schutzhund, he was happy to take down grown men when commanded. How I adored that dog... It tore at my soul when he passed. (Sorry for my little walk down memory lane). Do you have a thread for your children? xD I wouldn't mind seeing another dog expert's Pitbulls. : ) Do you compete?
Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD
  • I've made some in the past, but I don't have any current threads. :) <br>We've dabbled in dock jumping but IN is the least dog friendly state I can think of. We have hardly anything here. Emily has advanced arthritis so she can't do much. She doesn't let it stop her right away but she pays for it later. Other than that, we just do fun stuff at home. <br>I'd like to get Bayleigh into agility but again, finding classes is difficult in my area unless I want to drive several hours. Yes, I could train at home, but I'd feel much more comfortable with an instructor. <br>Then there's my poor old man Kaiser. He seriously doesn't do anything. He's not doing very well right now. :(<br>One of our favorite games is "Find It." Either a person will hide or we'll hide a treat and the dogs have to go find it. So much fun! Em's an expert!
  • I posted some pics for you in the photo section.
  • Awesome! I'll go look. My first dog, a Boxer, had the same problem as Emily. Its so sad to see. I'm sorry. I try to play hide and go seek with Laru but she freaks out when its my turn to hide. She'll start howling and barking and tearing everything apart to find me. -_- The rest of my dogs are interested in nothing but work. The kind of dogs that are less worried about being loved and more worried about when they're next command will be given and their next task to perform. They're workers, not pets, supposedly... and they aren't interested in being pets. Just wanna eat, sleep, then work. -_- Which is why I'm so close to LaLa. Have you tried dog yoga with Kaiser? I know its sounds ridiculous but it helped with my boxers problems from old age... and it forms this trusting bond. xD

<br><br>What do you mean by dog yoga? Beacause what I have in mind will not work with a great dane.
  • lol. It worked for my 115 pound frame and a 210 pound mastiff! There are all kinds of different moves for different breeds and problems. Haha. Just a suggestion!
Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD
  • Maybe I should look it up. <br>The dog yoga I've seen was always with small dogs that you pick up and stuff.
  • My class involved a lot of massage and relaxation. Nothing to big. Unless you want to go for the expert class where the dogs are doing professional hand stands by themselves. O.o

  • I only did yoga with dogs that I felt needed it. Otherwise i'd be torturing my animals. xD None of them will willingly do the yoga with me, just Laru... But she thinks its acceptable to do nothing and just lie there while I do all the yoga, and she lets me move her around like a limp rag doll... lazy bones.
