Alright. I've got experience breedings dogs, gerbils, goats, and cows. Now I highly doubt you're going to walk into you're local pound and find a wheaten. You can find them at rescues and such, but I pound is a stretch.

We had a pure wheaten at our shelter called Benji. He was owned by a lady who got arrested, her friend was supposed to take care of him. Long story short, the friend dumped him, animal control picked him up, we adopted him out, then the original owner showed up after she saw him on our FB page. Sucky for her, but the dog got a great home and she was fine with it.
Geez xD Alot of the wheatens i know if just get picked up for the rescue then fostered through a breeder and rehomed. We've rehomed about 4...

I wish more breeders would work together more often. I know a lot of breed clubs have resuces and do the very thing you guys did. Thank you!
  •
My friend that shows has a bunch of dogs, unfortunately all from breeders when most just kinda sit there and are lap dogs.

Emme wasn't trying to insult anyone im sure, and she wasn't insulting dogs from breeders. Just her opinion that if you want nothing but a companion or lap dog then you can find one from a shelter just as well as a breeder. And why not? You could save a life if that means anything to you. Its just an opinion. I go for both sides. Were all doing something good for our animals and we all love our babies reguardless if they were adopted or purchased. Hooray for everyone? Hah. :) Done hijacking? xD
Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD
  • Shelter animals are very good dogs and most are purebred dogs. I know I work with and take are of shelter dogs in my vet tech school. But with shelters dogs there are a lot of unknowns, we don't know their temperament, their background, do they like male caregivers over females, do they get snippy when you put your hands up to the cage. But all this doesn't mean their bad dogs at all. I rarely get mad at the dog all the blame goes toward my partner, example she was suppose to restrain a dog to get his temperature taken, she was holding the dog by the collar and not restraining right so I got nipped at, wanted to punch her in the face, I wasn't paying attention to her, because I'm here to get this procedure over with so the dog doesn't have to be stressed and more uncomfortable. But lesson learned, never partner up with her again.

There are shelter people and their are breeder people. I like breeders because I know what I'm getting, health wise and somewhat temperament wise. If I would ever go to a shelter it would be a breed specific shelter, mainly because they have experience and they know more about their dogs than a shelter does.

I bought my Betta fish from a breeder, they come with 4 generations pedigree and what spawn they more than likely will produce.

Their are Pro's and Con's to each.

I lost my betta auction :( but I did see this handsome <a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7150/6658001105_b534a0ec53_z.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">guy a fullmoon (double tail x halfmoon). I can't find any good betta's in the US I might just have to import them form Thailand, which I don't want to do but will have to -Sigh-
