Blue Buffalo Dog Food

I have seen a thread discussing what type of food you feed your dog. But I want to mainly discuss BB. After learning that nutrition in a vet techs career is gold. Why because have you ever went t the vet and asked "Whats the best food for fluffy to be eating?". More than likely yes. So I did some research and came up with some things. First that dogs that have skin problems and allergy problems can be because of the dogs food. This personally have happened to me, my shih tzu and my bichon has dry skin and all they do is scratch and break the skin. So the vet recommend we switch to Purina one lamb and rice (the old version). Well it did a good job,but then they switched their formula to the one with meat bits in it. And it seemed to have a negative effect and our dogs skin went back to dandruff and scratching all the time. So I decided to switch to BB because it's the best commercial dog food in big chain pet stores.

Now my only problem is which one to get. Wilderness or Regular. Fish, Lamb, or Chicken. Of course with the dry skin fish is the main choice but which one. I was thinking about getting Dry lamb recipe BB and mixing it with Wet wilderness Salmon recipe. Or just buying the Dry lamb and salmon recipe and mixing those together.

Choices, choices.

For those who dogs have eating or is eating BB which flavor did you choose?

 • I won't claim to be an expert but I do think that there are better brands on the market than Blue Buffalo. However, it is a good brand. Wilderness recieved a 5 out of 5 stars on the Dog Food Advisor site. It is a grain inclusive food. Basics recieved 4 out of 5 stars.

I prefer grain free foods because my dogs have allergies. But that's just me. Taste of the Wild took care of Emily's hives, bald patches, scratching, and flakey skin.

This site may not be 100% accurate, as it is an opinion site. But it does give a good idea of most foods out there.
<a href="http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/;
 • My Shih-Tzu was on Blue for a short time.. Chicken flavored, I believe. But she stopped eating it halfway through the bag, wouldn't eat without wet food mixed in (we fixed that..) but anyway, once the bag was gone, we switched to Evo, which she LOVES and also recieved 5 stars on Dog Food Advisor. It is grain free, and my dog just seems peppier on it. She has more energy, doesn't sleep as much and just seems happier. Not talking down Blue here though.. Just sharing my dog's opinion. XD

Yes, I have heard about Orijen and Evo and also Taste of the Wild. I've heard the good and the bad about all of them BB included. I know Orijien was also a brand that people love, Evo to. Now Taste of the Wild I have looked into, and I was going to buy that dog food because it was a few dollars cheaper than BB. I have amazon prime, so I buy everything off there website. But that site you showed me was gold. I think I came from a bad dog food (Kibbles and Bits), to a good dog food that people can afford (Purina One), to a very good dog food (BB). But if I have problems with BB I'm switching to Orijen.

 • I would love to feed Orijen but it is sooo expensive.

Pft, I know its like $70 for a 30 pound bag. But I guess since it is "meat packed" or since its from Canada they can charge so much.

Haha, your dog sounds like a drama queen. But I can't wait to switch my dogs food. Since they were eating low grade bottom of the pile dog food. And now I'm switching to a high grade 5 star dog food, I can't wait to see the results.

But picking dog food is hard, its so many great choices.

 • We used to feed Kira Eukenuba Lamb & Rice because that's what Vincent's parents fed their German shepherds, but after a few weeks she just refused to eat it. She'd eat a little every few days because she was super hungry at that point. Then we switched her to BB Wilderness Lamb & Rice because that was the flavor from her last food. I read that the Salmon food is actually better than the Lamb, so that's why we switched to the Salmon flavored. ^^
