Kindle books..

edited December 2011 in General Discussion
I am planning on getting a kindle soon, but I have no idea on what books to get. Currently I am trying to expand from my "comfort" zone of books I normally read. So If there is any idea of a book you believe is good please comment. I plan to get The Giver and to also update myself on the Warrior series

  • You should try the Wolves of Mercy falls series (Shiver, Linger, and Forever) It's a teen romance, I actually read it by accident, because it is about wolves (werewolves to be exact..) and I hadn't realized it was romance.. But they are incredible books. Not much different than the RPG's you participate in, really..

  • I'd recommend these:
The Sweep Series by Cate Tierman (costs much less to read it in print format, but it's an incredible series)
Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody (SimStar actually introduced me to this one.)
Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit
Into the Land of the Unicorns (Unicorn Chronicles) by Bruce Coville
The Black Stallion series by Walter Farley
The Phantom Stallion series by Terri Farley

There's an amazing series with the main characters being bats -- it's put out by Kenneth Oppel and I believe the first book in the series is titled Silverwing.

I also like almost anything by Dean Koontz, James Patterson, and Stephen King, but it really depends upon how well you tolerate mystery/horrors/thriller type books. Specific titles from any of the above that I've found to enjoy: Tick Tock, By the Light of the Moon, Misery, Rose Madder, Pet Sematary (spelled like that), Relentless, Dragon Tears, Watchers, and a lot more. Some of them aren't as creepy, disturbing, or as scary as others, but again it just depends upon whether you like that type of stuff.

    On an indefinite hiatus.
  • Wow! Thanks! I'm about to go to bed, but tommorrow I will look up those books. Most of them sound extremly intresting. I can't say I handle Horror books very well, but I love mysteries.

  • I love Maximum Ride :) Its kinda of a err I can't explain so a description I've stolen from elsewhere will have to do:
Maximum Ride is a series of young adult science fiction and fantasy novels by American author James Patterson. The series chronicles the lives of six fugitive kids – Max, Fang, Iggy, Gasman, Nudge, and Angel – known collectively as the Flock. Bred in a laboratory called the School, they endured scientific experiments that rendered them 98% human and 2% avian.
In the first three books of the series, the Flock spends much of their time running from human-lupine hybrids (called Erasers) created by the School. Book 4 is mainly about the Flock rising against global warming, whereas Book 5 is about saving Dr. Martinez while battling environmental pollution. Book 6 is about rescuing Fang, and Book 7 is about stopping the Doomsday Group from destroying the world's population of non-mutated humans. The books are divided into two sets: The Fugitives (books 1–3) and The Protectors (books 4–7). The series shares a few similarities with two of Patterson's previous books, When the Wind Blows and The Lake House.
Patterson recently announced that the series would end with an eighth book in February 2012. Patterson said the eighth book will be titled Nevermore, as announced at his book talk for charity at Lincoln Hall

The 8th book will be its last :) and if you dont want to read them all the first 3 are my favorites and four is kinda bad but they've gotten better again xD

  • Tattoo Faeries series is quite good (you can get all of them on kindle)
The Millennium Series (quite good crime drama books and full of mystery) Films are already out (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire & The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest)
The Host (one of my fave books by Stephanie Meyer)

Also there are so many free books on the kindle and you can get special offers where some books are free on a certain day. I read a free book called 'You've Gone Too Far This Time Sir' which was quite fun, never got to the end of it lol.

Some of the free books are classic and some are new, and you can find so many.
