Layout was deleted..

edited November 2011 in Questions/Support
I had my layout deleted by an Op today, because I "listed my age."
Not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but saying I'm in college isn't listing my age. People on the forums do it all the time. "Oh, I'm in high school. Oh, I'm in college." Also, I personally have seen sixteen-year olds all the way to 85-year old students on my campus.

I strongly feel that someone could have just messaged me if it was a problem, because I would have gladly just removed that sentence saying I'm a college student, instead of getting my layout - with all the html that I didn't have saved anywhere else - deleted.
I don't think this was fair at all.

My whole week was bad enough - being sick, getting my wallet stolen, my mom taking out her anger on me even more than usual, a new manager at work that we all hate cursing at us and in general trying to get us all fired, my grandma getting cancer AGAIN, finding out I might have breast cancer too, and being behind on schoolwork (am I allowed to mention I do schoolwork because that hints at my age..?) and this was just the icing on the cake.

Can I at least just simply have my layout back and I'll get rid of the sentence. Deleting the whole thing was unnecessary.

 • I cannot go into details about exactly why your layout was removed, it is against Op rules to do so.

When a layout is deleted, that's exactly what happens, it's deleted, removed from the database. We cannot recover it. It is up to the players to know and recognize when something is on their layout that shouldn't be, and to save things that are important to them somewhere besides the game.

If a player is online when a problem is noted, we generally will speak to them, though not always. However, if they are not, we may not, depending on what the problem is. Internet safety is more important to us than saving replaceable code.

 • Troglin managed to save the original code, thank god.

I just honestly feel that VP has changed over the years and become so much more sheltered than it was. Just because somebody knows my age doesn't affect my safety.. What about the pointless red stickers underage drivers have to put on their cars? They practically scream for pedofiles' attentions.

Either way, duely noted. I shoudn't have shown my age. I just think the whole entire "op, let's just get rid of her whole layout, no matter how much time she put into it" was a bit excessive.
