Name a Bun!

So I'm getting a rabbit next week and it needs a name...obviously. It's too young right now to tell if its male or female, so I'm looking for names of either gender. I really like unique names, but not...waaay far out there, lol. Here's some info the breeder told me about the rabbit she matched me with (we weren't able to go see the litter since our car is dead). It's black, and may have white on it's nose, it's the runt of the litter so it's pretty small, and it's "an incredibly sweet, cuddly bunny".<br><br>Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  • Jet. for Jet Black. Can be a boy or girl name. Not too out there but pretty unique. Also bunnies are quick and athletic soo it fits a bunny in my opinion xD
  • Pumpkin - Oooh! I looove the name Maya!!<br><br>Vamp - That is a freaking awesome name! And it's short enough so it should learn the name fast if I chose that. =)

  • Thanks! I finally found out that it's a boy =)<br><br>Aww I love the name Lovett! And, I used to own a ferret named Zoey =)<br><br>Daaang! You must have really good rabbits then. Are they show rabbits?
    5x236g.jpg
  • I bred Lovett myself. Her entire litter was named after tim burton movies. Lovett and Alice are from the same litter btw. xD I also had hatter, and sally then but i sold them as breeders. <br><br>I have grand champion stock. I sell rabbits for livestock shows and Last year i showed them myself and got grand in both categories (and then both the rabbits who won had alice and lovett soo theyve got some nice looks to them) and the pen i bred won 3rd place and $1000 so yea i like to think i got some pretty good stock
  • Aww! Those are all adorable names 8D<br><br>Wow! That's excellent!!

  • I love it. I am a breeder at heart. I work with babies well. My mom never would let me breed my pets growing up so when i got old enough i decided since its what i wanna do that it was time to start doing it. Horses were out of the question. Too expensive. Dogs.. all mine were neutered and no way my daddy was gonna let me get another dog. I tried hamsters but both my hamsters turned out to be boys (despite what petsmart said x.X) I finally settle on rabbits. Id shown them before but never bred them. Soo i found some stock and a website online for rabbit breeders and the rest is history. I love em. Its amazing how quickly they grow. Gestation is only a month which means i have long enough to get excited but dont have to drag the waiting out and when theyre born they are SOO cute. Naked, hairless, scrunched up blind and deaf babies. And within a week they start looking like bunnies and usually on day 10 their eyes open. Then they get even cuter! I love how quickly they develop. They change every day soo they never look the same in the morning. Within the first 10 hours after birth they already have peach fuzz hair. I love em xD
  • Aww! Wow a month is really quick! I've bred rats, guinea pigs and hamsters and I -hate- waiting for the babies, lol hamsters only take 16 days and even that is too long for me. <br><br>I've always been interested in showing, but you'd have to have a purebred rabbit up to breed standards right? Or do they also do just pet rabbit shows?
    5x236g.jpg
  • They have both actually depending on where you go. Standard shows are basically conformation for rabbits however i know SOME places (none that i know of besides 4-H) have Rabbit Jumping courses (agility) and Dress up classes and stuff like that. <br><br>All mine are standard show bunnies though. Registered pedigreed showstock
  • I've seen the rabbit agility classes on tv...cutest thing ever, lol<br><br>Oh now this is making me want to talk mom into allowing another rabbit, lol There are some registered, show line Angoras a couple towns away
    5x236g.jpg
  • Angoras are fun XD Id never be able to keep one alive in the heat we have here though. Ive just stuck to Californians. I also have a 150$ BEW Netherland Dwarf buck but he got sick the day before he was gonna be bred the first time. I decided then and their that i was gonna stick with my calis until i got an inside central air barn. I about gave up breeding after Java died but i decided id go ahead and keep it up because i didnt wanna give away Ruby. She then went on to win a GC title and have the best litter of kits ive ever raised but she died this summer because of the heat.
  • Vampy needs to breed her netherlands so i can has my baby bunny finally =( I still have the pen for it and everything. Just waiting on you to breed some haha!
  • O-o uuhm... the Netherlands both died. Once i move im prolly gonna go back to LSR and get two more though, but this time im getting breeders and NOT babies!!
  • Wow you had terrible luck with your netherlands xD lol! maybe its a sign 0.0
  • Angoras look like a lot of grooming time, but it would so be worth it,lol <br><br>Aww sorry to hear about Java and the kits dying. I hate when litters die (or any animal really). We had a littler of rats and the mom decided that at three weeks old they were done nursing, and so she wouldn't let them nurse at all, and they ended up dying, though I did try feeding them replacement milk.
    5x236g.jpg
  • Honestly ive lost two whole litters. Onces mom got sick and couldnt milk them and i replaced half with my other mother and tried hand feeding three but none lived. The replaced ones were too far behind in development and ended up freezing and mine just didnt make it. Not sure why. <br><br>The other litter i believe froze to death. They were a day old and i went outside to check on em and they were all uncovered and cold. <br><br>Ive learned to not count my chickens before they hatch... or bunnies before they are weaned. <br><br>All in all i really enjoy them though. Ive learned that i cant always keep the whole litter alive no matter how much i try (actually ive never had a full litter live. Ive always lost at least one)
  • Atleast you tried to keep them alive. I know a "breeder" that had a litter where the mother died and he just...disposed of the babies without even trying to keep them alive =/
    5x236g.jpg
  • Oh my gosh! That reminds me of the man across the road from me! He had a whole pen of hunting dogs, like 50+ dogs in one pen and they were all inbred and stuff cause he didn't separate them at all. When they had puppies, he would take the puppies and bash their heads against a brick wall to kill them then just throw them over the fence... when one of his grown dogs died, he would tie them to his four wheeler and DRAG them into the far back corner and leave them there unburied.. it enraged LOTS of people but no one would do anything cause he was the old mayor -_- it made me SO mad. My brother used to work for him and when he told my brother to "dispose" of the puppies his way.. my brother quit and walked away. he refused to kill an innocent animal as everyone should!
  • I love the name Harley!!! :D
  • Garn - oh my God! That is one of the most horrendous things I have -ever- heard! Those poor babies!<br><br>Pumpkin - Thanks! =)
