Hyper?

edited October 2011 in Questions/Support
My line's hyper stat doesn't seem to be raising much any more, and its dramatically slowed down over the past few generations. This is the second line of mine which this has happened to, and it's slightly annoying. Is it a glitch, or is hyper just being stubbornly awkward?

Male: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2040992"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2040992; - has a birth hyper of 104.2

Female: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2040964"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2040964; - has a birth hyper of 104.5

The dogs are trained with aggro cap and groom until 11.6.0 and 11.0.0 respectively.

Out of 4 litters bred from a breeding kennel with 100 in the skill (about 20 pups were born, most were released) these two were the male and female with the highest hyper:

Male: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2041360"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2041360; - has a birth hyper of 102.4

Female: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2041350"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2041350; - has a birth hyper of 104.9. This is slightly higher than the parents', but a female sibling of the male parent was bred at 105.0 - so it seems a little strange?

I would be most grateful if anyone knows the answer to this :)

 • I've been having problems with the friendly & hyper stat of my Laikas too. I got up to 8x4s with one line, kept grooming and breeding, and the highest statted ones of all of the litters were always at least .1 lower than the parents. So I imported a whole new line, got up to 8x4s with those and bred them all together. Same thing.
Breed abandoned /:

Is this a glitch?

 • Adding 20+ new dogs and grooming them almost to death, to have the stat be .1 lower? /:

 • Mhmm. Some lines seem to take a lot more effort than they should. I have had the same issue with quite a few lines, giving up on most of them simply because of the training, imports, and dogs they appear to require.

One of my friends once told me that when she capped aggression, the likelihood of her achieving 10x4s was increased. I haven't truly tested the theory, but it has appeared to work for me before. Perhaps aggression, like loyalty, plays a bigger role than everyone thought. While capping aggression/rough housing will lower the end result of the hyper stat, it does appear to actually give better hyper statted pups.

So while it's really unproven, it might be worth a shot if you're still stuck and just want to test another pair or two.
