Dog Size?

My dog is a Blue Heeler mixed with Chow,German Shepherd,Golden Retriever, and maybe one or two other things, but mainly Blue Heeler. She is about 21 inches tall and I believe she is done growing, shes just about a year old, she will be in November. Is there something Im not doing right to make her grow?? She gets a big amount of food and water everyday.

Yes, all those breeds are large, and you'd expect her to be big. But, in mixed breeds it doesn't always turn out that way.
 • I see. Haha. Shes pretty. She is almost like I expected her to be, only shorter haha. She is stocky and muscular, thats what I like in a dog. ;P

 • It all depends on the dog, my baby border will be lucky to hit 20 pounds and 16 inches even though the breed standard is 18-22 inches and 27-40 pounds. What food do you feed her? Where was she from? Part ofthe reason my puppy is small is because he was froman Irish line and they run small and because he is from a puppy and got sick while young. It all depends on where they are from and how they grow up...

 • Dog size depends on the dog alone, not the amount of food you feed him/her.
For example, I have an English Bulldog, she's slightly taller than most bulldogs that I encounter and weighing in at almost 60 pounds.
I feed her once a day, about 2 cups.
Adult dogs should only be fed 1-2 times a day.
Large amounts of food doesn't mean a taller dog, just means obiesety!
 • XD Oh ok haha. Well shes in no way fat, she has a TON of exercise lol. Im very active and plus shes on a chain outside so she can run in circles lol..and believe me she DOES hahahaha.

 • At a year old, it would be safe to say she probably won't get any bigger. However, she could continue to fill out over the new few years. Even though there are some bigger dogs in her history, it's not uncommon for them to take after a single breed. If you're feeding her more, she's just going to get fat. I'd read the directions on the bag for the appropriate amount to feed her.
 • Alright! (:
@tbone- no I haven't..I should try that now lol!
