Job Hunt *sigh*

edited October 2011 in Vent
I -was- teaching special needs people how to ride horses. However, that job has ended until the Spring. Soo now I have to find a new job. Oh joy. I just went to a bakery that had a "Help Wanted" sign, and the woman there acted like I was an ax murder or something. I was extremely nice to her, yet she had an attitude with me. I understand that sometimes people have bad days, but I think (if that was her problem) she could've pushed that aside for the moment. Anyways...*goes back to filling out a stack of job applications*

 • Ooh yes, that's annoying too! I really hate when they give you false hope with the "We'll call you" line, then you never hear from them >.>

 • Try some big chain stores, its the holiday season and they need all the help they can get. I know its been a pain for me finding a job with my mom breathing down my neck.

 • It took me a few years of looking to get a job, but when I started actually trying, I got one. My town has a million little plazas, and I went into every store I was interested in. The liquor store was the only one that called me back, and they did it when I just got on the subway in New York so naturally, I lost service. Had to get off the train and go all the way up to ground level, but thank god I got the job. My coworkers are wacky, I met my boyfriend there, and every customer that comes in has a story for you. Not to mention, it really helps when you have a bad day, and the nice old guys sincerely tell you that you're beautiful and wish they were younger, even if you're their granddaughter's age.
Still can't decide if it's creepy or nice. Probably both

But yeah, I'd recommend just going in everywhere you can and applying personally. Online applications haven't held much luck for me >.< Also, ask if the hiring manager is there. Speaking to them directly helps out a ton, especially if your personality stands out to them.
lmao That's pretty funny.

Thanks for the tips guys. My biggest challenge is that I live in a small town so there aren't many places to apply. Also, my vehichle sucks, so it's impossible to go out of town everyday. Oh well, I shall figure something out. :)

 • Good luck finding a job! My friend says that he sometimes seems crabby, but its not personal, just something went on to make him frusterated.
