SHES A-DOR-ABLE!!! Lol. *steals*
But I dont agree with him having you train her, as if you train her she will listen to you better then her actual owner, unless he is with all the time and you tell her to do something, then he does it with her again. Cause my dog, I am the only one who trains, been the same with all my dogs, maybe if it were a show dog I would have a professional do it, but even then I doubt I would let anyone else train her.
If trained well a dog should listen to ANY command given when ANYONE does it. She does it with everyone so as far as I am concerned it was for the best that I train her. He is not exactly a good trainer. He couldn't even get my bf's dog (was theirs before I came) to sit. I trained Chewy to sit, roll over, sit pretty, come and he is 5 years old. So if you cant train your own dog then the smartest thing to do is get someone else who KNOWS what they are doing to help.

Like I said....If trained RIGHT they should listen no matter what.
True, but I would still prefer to train my own dog, cause during training is partially when you get a bond with your animal. My puppy listens better then a 5 year old dog we have (Chocolate Lab,which labs are supposed to be intelligent) that went to obedience school.
And also, I train my dogs Ive had were guard dogs, I trained them to be sometimes too, other times I got them already a trained guard dog, yes my dogs could use some more training (the ones that are/were guard dogs) but for the most part they were GREAT dogs, I hate all these dogs that listen like a robot. This dog I have Im training to be a guard dog also.
She is far from a robot. We love he and value her as a member of the family. Wanting her to be as social as possible we have her do things with other animals and people. When she doesn't want to listen she wont. She is a puppy. But seeing as her owner is busy most of the time and has NO IDEA how to train I am the one who does it. Once she lerns a trick I show everyone the correct way to do it so she will do it on command.

I do know what you mean about the bond as I have trained my own dog Bruiser ( a chihuahua) and he listens to me forst, then my mom and lastly my brother or anyone else if he does listen. But that is the dogs choice. He really only cares for me. Now Chewy will listen to my BF over anyone and he has never taught that dog anything. So I find the logic flawed. And I don't particularly like obedience classes so I can't blame your dog for not listening.

Now Mia does tricks with everyone because we want her social. She knows who her master is but she will listen on command. THat is the way we want her raised due to her breed. If no one is here except for my BF's mom and she can't control Mia and the dog ends up getting hurt or hurting others because Mia never listened then it would be us who failed her. I have had TONS of dogs including pitbulls and Hybrids so I know how to control head strong dogs.
I didnt mean she was a robot, I was just stating that I dont like robot dogs. (;
I have been around TONs of breeds also, and Im not saying that you cant be successful with training her even though shes not yours, just saying I wouldnt do it haha. Thats good that your teaching her to be social, I hate people who dont teach their PIT BULL to be social, of all breeds, a Pit bull should be socialized, I them and those kind of people should not own a Pit Bull, much less a dog!
But from what it sounds your doing good even if she isnt your dog
Yeah she is good. She doesn't even need treats! She just does them which is major advanced! She is already introduced to dogs and a TON of cats! And of course people. She loves other people.
Thats great!! ;D
She sounds like an awesome dog!
Ya know, Pit Bulls are probably my favorite breed of dogs (used to be Great Pyrenees or Mutts now their tied for second xD) and I -HATE- when people say their so stupid or their ugly, cause in my eyes their REALLY intelligent and they are some of the most beautiful dogs! I also like Rottweilers ;D
Yep I love my pitties although some are just ugly but anydog can be not that good looking. I dont like pits with smooshed in faces and crudely cropped ears.
Yeah, haha, they look kinda weird like that, but the cropped ears, some can be kinda cute but whenever I see them with cropped ears it reminds me how I wish the owner wouldnt be so stupid as to make them go through that.
Awwww my boyfriend and i just got a new pitbull puppy about 5 days ago! shes 9 weeks old and white with grey spots! =D Soooooo cute! I'm working on training her now. any tips you could PM me??
Awww! What a darling puppy! I'm slightly jealous! I want a pit bull puppy! :P

She sounds like a smart cookie and people driven! Just how this breed is supposed to be. Thanks for doing right by her and her breed by getting her trained.

Hey Garnet! Try treats. In general, most APBTs are super food motivated.
Thanks and Yeah sorry Garn was going to get to you and RL stuff got in the way. I started with treats (whicks was actually just dog food) and had her do the trick but now she will do them with out treats. She is SO wonderful but still has a biting problem. She is getting big quick and I am So proud of her. She is trained off leash and when someone is walking by or we are getting out or in the truck all we have to say is sit (and we are a good 20 feet away) and she sits right down in the yard and wont go in the road. She has never left the yard but we are still keeping a watchful eye on her. She is going to be a heck of a good dog.
And as a spammy to my own thread just make sure you use A LOT of praise. I hate physical punishment and it can make your puppy shy when you come near. YOur dog should never fear you. The trust will never be there. Just reward the good behavior and your puppy should start to want to get that praise by doing good things. I also suggest getting this book http://www.dogwise.com/Photos/Large/DTB464_c.jpg IT WILL HELP! I do not agree with a lot of it but near the end of the book there is step by step tricks you can teach your dog and how to do it in stages. I highly recomend it!
0.0 ill look into that book! Thanks you guys! She does LOVE treats haha brian has her trained that when i walk into the room or something he will say "faythe! attack mommy! and faith will immediately run and start jumping on my leg licking me and wagging her tail really fast! its so cute! OH MY GOSH! I was SOOO scared! i thought we were gonna lose her this morning! she started not eating and was throwing up clear liquid. i called Dr. Hughes (our normal vet) immediately and he asked if she was still playing around or anything like that and i told him that she was drinking a lot of water and was still playful and he said that was a good sign and she was prolly just upset at her stomach from the six hour drive yesterday but to keep an eye on her and bring her in if she started acting lethargic or anything. He also said to go to our local feed store and get her worming pills and give her one today and to buy a over the counter vaccination (cause i had told him i didnt have the money for her to be examined till my dad gets paid and is off work next tuesday) so we got both of that and gave her the pill as soon as we got home and we gotta give her another one in two weeks. she pooped out worms earlier and hasn't since then and is eating and not throwing up at all since then!!! =D

--- Faythe's little note to you guys she stepped on my laptop! Among opening up like six new tabs lol
xxdr4443
"|[=2222222222222222222222222222222
"Beautiful" puppy ;3, almost looks like the APBT that was offered to me and my family, just the nose was red not black, not sure if I have showed her or not xD.
She is growing into an amazing dog. She has the perfect head. I have seen some pitbulls that have a more smushed appearence but hers is just awesome. She is SO sweet and loving, just what a Pitbull SHOULD be. I hope I can borrow the camera again and give updates. She has gotton big.
Lolz... My boyfriend's cousin's pit had puppies and he is giving one to us. The one Jacob(my bf) likes is the biggist puppy and i white and grey brindle. SHe is the biggest puppy of the litter. I kinda want the runt though, but it is up to Jacob for some reason lolz

They are all great pups. The dad and mom are champion Remi lined show Pits in our state, but I do not like the bigger framed/headed Pits. I am more of a Grey line Pitbull person. They are less stocky and are taller than Remi lined Pits.

Greyline and Remi are both American Bullies. Both to big for my taste, though I'm not a fan of blue dogs in general.
However, congrats on the puppy! I hope you post on here once you get him or her.
Remi lines have Pits in them actually. We have the papers on all the dogs and these two are full bred Pits and Remi is a decindant of them both.

I realize that they are registered as American Pit Bull Terriers, UKC probably, but I'm saying that both lines stem from American Staffordshire Terriers. They are heavier and bigger than an APBT and are very, very, very common in American Bullies. They are still a newish breed and most people call them pit bulls but they are not. I don't want to come off as a know it all, and I'm trying not to. So please don't take it that way. I'm just trying to be informative.
Lowjack Remy Martin was a registered APBT. He is apart of the Razor Edge APBT lines making him a APBT. Now I know there are American Bullies in his lines from people breeding APBT's from his line with Staffordshire Terriers which is how the American Bully breed was created. But his OFFICAL lines are all APBT's. UKC is the kennel club that excepts APBT's because AKC has removed them along with several other kennel clubs around the world. The last time I checked, all breeds that contained the physical charicteristics of the breed such as the American Staffordshire Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
http://mrpitbull.com/remyline.html <<< History of Remy Martin
http://mrpitbull.com/blueremy.html <<< Remy Martin's bloodlines are at the bottom of the page all in which are APBT's; most are Razors Edge APBT's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Bully <<< Info on American Bullies
