Influence of Fame Points

edited August 2011 in Questions/Support
Do fame points really help?
I doubt one or two will make that big of a difference, but I was thinking more like 6-10 fame points.
Do you think that would influence the dogs pups any or how the stat looks after training/grooming?

I'm planning to use fame on the hyper stat if I can't seem to get close enough to four star by 4-5th gen.
Has anyone tried this method? Did it work?

 • I've been having trouble with my Flatties' hyper, so I tried some fame.

For the first breeding I added 4 points of hyper to the female (the male was already trained.) Out of a 110.4 and 110.2 the highest I got was a 110.7. Previous generations had been showing increases of only 0.1.

As far as bettering training goes, I added 5 points of hyper to this male: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=1993466"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=1993466; (birth hyper of 110.8). As you can see, the result of long-grooming did not result in hyper being any higher than 217.3, which is exactly the same as his sire, who had no fame added prior to training. Once his mate is trained, I'll let you know if the increase in hyper from fame seemed to help any (I've added 5 points to the female as well.)
 • The result of the aforementioned breeding was a maximum of 110.6 hyper. I don't know if my breed is just being exceptionally difficult or what, but it appears that the fame didn't make a difference.
 • Man. Not cool.
Okay thanks so much Aziu :)
Do you think if enough fame points are added so that its enough to affect training it'd effect the pups?
The only problem would probably be getting 10+ fame points for each dog, right?

 • Well, I would think 5 points from fame should have affected training, as it is raising the starting point of the stat prior to training, and in theory then with the same amount of grooming/increase as that applied to a non-famed dog, the pup with fame added should have ended up with the higher stat after training.

Another thought I have regarding the use of fame on dogs is regarding when it was implemented. The add fame feature has been around since dogs' stats capped at 100. So, perhaps the original intent of fame was to make getting dogs' stats to 100 (or, later, 200) faster--you could "train" your dog by using fame. I don't know if that was the thought in mind when Nef added it, but it could explain why using fame for breeding doesn't seem to make a much of a difference--if at all.

Or since its probably not a glitch and that was what fame was originally intended for, they wouldn't bother updating it? I too in the past have tried adding fame to dogs in lines and there wasn't any "wow" affects for me. I used to add it to speed on my greyhounds to see if I could get a big boost and nothing. It was a waste. I even tried putting 20 points two breeding pair dogs and nothing. Just what was expected of the future litter to come.
 • Hmm, good point Lovefrompaige.

@Aziu,
Yea, I had a feeling that fame points didnt really do much except max your dogs stats faster.
I would've expected the stat to be higher, but I guess not.
Thank you for your help :D

 • I'll ask about that lovefrompaige and get back to you with the answer. :)

And no problem Sandeh. :)
