Training a foal!

At the barn where I work we finally bred one of the mares! She's a bay Thoroughbred and the sire was as well. It's going to be one stunning foal! We are making the appointment in two weeks to find out if she is pregnant or not!
But that's not even the best part!
My boss said that this baby will be mine to train from the ground up! I'M SO EXCITED! I've never trained a horse all on my own so she'll be helping me..but still!
I'll post pics of the mama soon along with some pictures I found of me jumping.
And as soon as this darn ankle of mine is healed I'll get to start breaking a horse and training a gelding! And of course...I'll be back in the saddle with Creole and Georgia and the horses at the barn!

 • Ooo Coaster that's great!
My mum's welsh pony had a little Arabian Pony (welsh x arabian = I think you call them Welara's?) and she is such a brat. Foals are so much fun, and like her half-sister, the Arabian in her makes her a little devil. She gets out of her paddock, and when leading the mare out to the paddock from the stable in the mornings (and reverse in the afternoons) she goes and visits all the other geldings and such to say hi, and she's only 6mths old!!
A few weeks ago she was weaned, but she is so much fun to watch. I have a tonne of photos of her being a complete spazz.. they have so much energy!!

And I reckon a TB foal would be the same.. bundles of energy, super fast and big lanky legs. I definitely want to see the mummy and daddy photos! ;D

Yay! Yush I have a photo of her! *uploads*
Her name is Luna (she has a small crescent mood on her forehead, as well as a snip) - <a href="http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/629/lunaor.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Luney-Poo .. ;D I prefer ponies, although we have a lot of purebred Arabians, which are 14.1hh - 15.1hh. The tallest purebred we own is actually my <a href="http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/8733/zharz.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">gelding, Zharz who is 15.1hh .. he has really long legs and hard for me to mount! x;
But other than that.. I can't wait until the 2nd of September, when I am flying down for the weekend, and I get to see them both (I haven't seen Zharz in over 2 years D:) and gets lots and lots of photos. <3

 • Foals are soo interesting xD I know Roman is quite a little brat but i love him like crazy. I work with him alot and he's a little angel for me but he kicked a feed bucket out of my moms hand the other day then ran from me cuz he knew i was gonna make him back up using nose pressure for it xD Theyre definitally interesting.
They have so much personality for such little things! I love watching them and their little quirks, I think it's adorable...even when they're being brats XD

 • Exactally! Roman is such a little turd! He's got pretty good conformation but with his big joints im not gonna break him until he is three. He's picking up his feet like a good boy though and i can hug him completely around his tummy and i can do anything with him but i cant for the life of me get a halter on the turd!! He wants to crawl into my lap (figurative.. he knows not to enter my bubble) until he sees the halter then he's GONE

My friend's horse was terrified of her halter, so we just hung it in her stall during the day so she got used to seeing it and smelling it, it took a loooong time before we could actually get it on her.
When we first got Georgia she refused to take the bit to her bridle so my trainer wrapped Fruit Roll-Ups on her bit XD now she gets excited when her bridle comes out because she thinks she's getting candy XD

 • Lol!! Were weaning Roman later on tonight so while were at it were gonna put a halter on him and let him drag a lead rope since he'll be in a roundpen
