Photoshop brushes every artist needs

edited July 2011 in Artist Alley
Alright, a good artist obviously needs good brushes (unless they want to spend countless unnecessary hours doing it with a basic brush).

The best brush set I have found to date is this one:
<a href="http://adonihs.deviantart.com/gallery/9827508#/d1ytm3r"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://adonihs.deviantart.com/gallery/9827508#/d1ytm3r; (Just press download on the right. The picture is just what they are.)

The fur brush is NEEDED for an animal artist. It is the most realistic fur (without looking like human hair) that I have seen. There is also a hair brush that could save you so many unnecessary strokes. I'll show you what all of them do:

<img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1KRqfXRhc2s/TihnMGGfkEI/AAAAAAAAAIs/1mudoim5zz4/s720/brushtest.jpg"; alt="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1KRqfXRhc2s/TihnMGGfkEI/AAAAAAAAAIs/1mudoim5zz4/s720/brushtest.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

Just play around with it, I promise these will be your favorite!
***I don't know if you can use them out of photoshop, but if you are serious about your art and plan to go somewhere with it, you should definitely invest in photoshop or something similar. There's only so far you can get with gimp.***

(ALSO, YOU SHOULD TOTALLY CHECK OUT THE ARTIST WHO POSTED THEM, HE'S AMAAAAZING.)

I've seen some that are pretty good, like <a href="http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=fur+brush#/d3hy8uk"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§i ... h#/d3hy8uk is amazing, but the fur brush in the other set is more neutral, which I like, and I've been able to use it nicely as a non-fur texture too. :D But putting this link here also for anyone who wants an easy "fluff" lol.

ALSO, I guess you can use these in gimp too, so yay. lol
 • Yeah thats the one I saw! xD I haven't gotten a chance to try it myself since I lost the serial code to my photoshop so now I can't install it on a new computer. D;

And I have issues with gimp. I tried using it yesterday to give it a chance and I was getting irritated quickly with it xD. I miss my photoshop and even paintshop.

Thanks for putting these up! I am curious to try the hair one >.> =D

Yeah aha, I've tried that set but again, it's very specific (as in, you can't use just those brushes for one picture) that I have found out, and the furs (with exception of the wire hair fur) gets lost once you put too many layers, unlike the fur brush in the first set. :)

And yeah, I needed gimp for a couple of months when I was using a different computer program, and it sucks. I only use it now to make my images transparent, because I'm almost 99.99% sure that my photoshop doesn't do it. XD

(The hair one is amazing by the way. You won't be disappointed aha)
