Game was down, but back up

edited July 2011 in General Discussion
There were some problems last night with the server and Ari decided he needed to take it offline and correct some data problems. He will get it back up just as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

 • We just wanted to take a few seconds to apologize for the game downtime this (very early) morning, and provide some explanation as to what happened as well as what changes you may expect to find within VirtualPups.

Specific tables in the game’s database began to be corrupted early yesterday. This corruption itself was not until the server was rebooted for a hardware upgrade, which was scheduled to be performed in order to further increase the game’s speed at peak usage hours.

As a result of this corruption, the records for specific dogs and events had to be restored from backups, meaning for some players recent in-game actions may have been reversed (i.e. dog’s disappearing from event entries, dog’s training decreasing, etc…). If you feel you have been affected by the restoration, please submit a ticket via the support system and we’ll do the best to get everything back to normal for you. Please note that support response times may be longer than normal due to a higher volume of requests.

We are very sorry for this inconvenience, and are doing everything in our power to ensure a speedy recovery today, as well as implement systems to prevent things like this happening in the future. Thanks for your understanding and continued support!

The VirtualPups Admin Team

 • If you need to put a ticket in, please provide as much information as possible. Saying that you have 5 dogs missing really doesn't help us help you. What kind of dogs, what gender, etc.
