Hair dye

WOW! I've been posting alot on here.... It's kinda irking me, but I have soo many questions for some reason. Well, I'm might be dying my hair before school starts and if I do I want to pick something that complements my complexion. Naturally I'm pale with a sorta pinkish tint in the cheaks. I don't tan, so I just stay my pale-ish color. And my hair naturally is Brownish red.... I've thought o dying it a more of orange red, but being me I'm afraid of how it will turn out. Ps. Sorry for all these post.....just kinda curious lolz xD

I know! I use Nice & Easy by Clairol all the time. I find that it does the less damage to my hair over time and it's relatively inexpensive. I do have long, thick hair, but even so one bottle is enough. Some tricks though: Use vaseline to outline your skin around your hairline. This will help from dying your skin in the process as it doesn't come off easily. Make sure you don't wash your hair the day of. The dye works best on unwashed hair. Red fades the fastest, though I've got red highlights in my hair from when I last dyed it that never faded. Make sure your scalp is free from scrapes or else it will burn like heck! I made that mistake once and it was really uncomfortable. Also, I don't know what your hair type is, but if it is like mine (thick) I use the time for coloring grey hairs (usually 5 minutes longer than the regular time, though read the directions to be sure) Do not do your eyebrows, this will also be in the directions.

My hair is long and layered and of course thick. (I'll make sure I do that.. I don't want my skin red or brown when I do back to school) I'm thinking of going with an Auburn or Light brownish color. The brown seems to give it a reddish tint.. but not BAM! FIRE! red.. :P

I've done a deep/dark red, black, black with blue highlights, platinum blond, dark brown, bright red, light blond and as well as the weird colors (pink, green, blue, purple). Lol, I'm somewhat of an expert when it comes to dying hair. It's easier the first time if someone else does it.

I've only dyed my hair once... And it was Burgundy... one of those kinda odd colors... And my mother dyed it.... Right now I'm trying to get an answer from her about dying my hair... since she has been promissing me that I could since Janurary..

I've liked using the temporary dyes that wash out in 14 washes, when I've felt the urge to dye my hair. I can wear it a couple days and see if I really do like it, then wash it out if I don't, or go in to a salon and ask them to match it before it washes out so I can get it done for real.

Like Bama said, I'd go with the temporary dye first. I've had purple highlights (my hair in naturally a honey blonde) and I made the mistake of washing my hair the after I got it done and it washed most of the way out so it only lasted about a month or so. I also dyed my hair a dark auburn color which looked good with my skin tone (pale to slightly tan) and it was supposed to wash out in 28 washes but it ended up not completely fading for like 4 months. I wish I could dye my hair, as kiwi put it, BAM! FIRE! red lol. But my mother said she wouldn't allow that color hair in her house, even the temporary dye =(

(my school wont allow the BAM FIRE Red... ) Thanks to everyone for their help!! I've come to a desicion of either Choclate brown or a shade of Auburn.
