I cried!!!

So my brother and his friend had me run them to the store. Its pitch black outside. Due to me living in the country, there are hardly any lights outside of town (A VERY small, town might i add) and i was driving home from the town thats like 20 minutes from my house and i get ALMOST home and the CUTEST little puppy EVER ran RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY BROTHERS TRUCK (i was driving) I hit the brakes to try and stop, but i was doing 65 (legal speed limit here at night) and had NO time to slow down fast enough considering there was also an eighteen wheeler on my butt so i couldnt hit the brakes TOO fast!!! OH MY GOSH!!! I waned to cry so badly!!! The puppy was about a foot tall and was well taken care of... I'm the type of person that i can take in huge amounts of detail in very little time... It was white with light brown patches and SO FREAKIN CUTE! Right before he went under the truck he looked up into the truck and was SO scared!!!! My heart went out to him and i burst into tears when i felt the tires hit him! I gripped the steering wheel really tight and put my other hand on the side of my head grabbed my hair (how i keep myself from hitting something or loosing control of my emotions) My brother grabbed my arm and was like "Dani.. its okay. Just get us home. It's fine. He's in a better place and doesn't feel any pain" Which made me cry WORSE!!!! I came home and went STRAIGHT to my room and laid down on my bed and my boyfriend came in here and hugged me and told me everything was okay.. He just doesnt understand... It's like he puppy saw me.. looked RIGHT at me... it broke my heart and im holding back tears right now while typing this... oh my gosh i feel like crap... david, my brothers friend, was like "go back and check on it" my brother said "no. with the size of the puppy and the weight of my truck and both tires hit him... hes not gonna be okay and shes already crying and can barely see the road.. she doesnt need to go back and see the dog to make things worse on her. we are going home" i keep picturing the puppy looking at me and the thud and bump when i hit it. omg now im crying again!!!! D= UGH

    Yea... I just wish there was more i could have done! I was always taught to hit your brakes and not swerve, so i didn't swerve.. I just tried to slow down like my dad always told me to do.. I just.. Idk =/ it makes me feel terrible! Someone is gonna miss that cute little puppy and it's all my fault D=<br><br>He was down in the tall grass and with it being dark i didnt see him till he shot out across the road. he got right out in the middle of the truck and then turned and ran back.. thats when i hit him =/

    I'm a little better today. Had a nightmare about it last night. I dreamed that i woke up and he was laying next to me.... couldnt fall back asleep for about two hours....

    omg I'm so sorry. D: I hit a raccoon the other night. I was going the speed limit too, and it was dark and he ran right across the road. Right under my car. I looked back and he was spinning in circles on his back, flailing like he was going to roll over and run. I told myself that's what he did. >.<

    Yea i had to drive back through there yesterday and the puppy was gone so.. at least i didnt have to see it again.. :/ im sorry to hear about the raccoon. lots of people hate them but i think they are SOOOOO adorable <3
