So, we went on vacation this past week and left our dog at a kennel. We've been using this kennel almost since she was a puppy. She's 9 now.
Today, we came back and went to pick her up. Everything was fine as usual. She was super excited to be going home. When we get home there are flees ALL over her. I'm not talking about one or two, I mean they got into every nook and cranny they could find.

And she is up to date on all her shots, pills, and all that jazz. So, we give her bath and try to get rid of all those darn things.
Afterwards, I was drying her off, trying to get all the dead flees off and what do I find? A HUGE tick on her ear. This thing had been there for awhile. I'm not so good on how long they take to get large, but she did not have ticks or flees when we dropped her off.
Then, we give her another bath, paying close attention so we could spot ticks or any flees. When we were finished with that we burned all the ticks. Just to make sure they're definitely dead. There must've been ten ticks on her.

I can't even imagine how bad it is for long coated dogs, where it's harder to spot flees and ticks. These families won't even see it coming. Luckily, we got Pepper cut right before we dropped her off.

Obviously they don't treat their yards for this stuff. There is no way they don't know that the bugs are there because they play with the dogs during the day. There must be ticks and flees in their home as well. It's just a disturbing thought. Do they not care at all??
We're switching kennels -_-
