Lease error

edited June 2011 in Questions/Support
When trying to lease my dog from the training to the breeding kennel I recieved the following error: Error, this dog is too old to be involved in a lease. The dog is 11.11.0 on a breed that has a lifespan of 12 years. Is this a bug or am I doing something. I need this resolved now. Thanks!

 • Any dog within 8 weeks of it's death date can no longer be leased. This is to prevent the abuse of a glitch, which many users had been using as a short cut.

 • Wait so that means if i train a pup till 11.11 and there death date is 12 i wont be able to send them to a breeding kennel?
 • Correct. You can no longer do it, which means you have to switch the male into the kennel by selling it to the kennel. If you have or have access to a breeding kennel, that can be done. Otherwise you'll likely need to find someone you trust to have your male in their kennel, or train them for 1 month less.

This is simply because too many people were knowingly and constantly abusing a glitch. It wasn't announced because bug/glitch fixes aren't typically announced.

 • This is just temporary until the glitch is fixed, correct?

 • If I sell the dog to the breeding kennel won't it lose loyalty? I feel that my whole line may be jepardized if I can no longer easily get them bred. I fortunately do have access to a breeding kennel and can sell the dog but if I didn't there is no way I would ever sell a dog to someone else for this purpose. Perhaps I can briefly stud the dog for free and hope no one else uses him.

 • If you have access to a breeding kennel, you can link your kennel to it temporarily (or however long you like). This allows for you to move the dog between the linked accounts without losing loyalty.

As far as studding him for free, that would also work. If you do that, I would suggest perhaps using two separate browsers -- like Internet Explorer and Firefox. You can log into two different kennels at once. Use one to put him up for stud, use one to breed to him real quick, and then you can take him off stud without incident.

For those who do not have access to a breeding kennel, you could put the stud up for 100k+ and send that money with the dog to the breeder. You don't lose out on any money plus your stud is relatively safe.

 • Anastasia, that is great advice thank you! I feel better now about leasing/breeding.

Ok... so one question then. If you already have the dog on a lease and it gets withing 8 weeks of it's death date does the lease cancel? Because I breed my female wolfhounds til they die. They only live to 8, and as it is the training I can do with them in that time really doesn't get their stats up much(if any). If I have to train for 2 months less that will make a major impact on if that line ever can get to 10x4.

 • I actually just went ahead and purchased an Irish Wolfhound [and aged it 8 years] to test it out. No, it will not cancel the lease. Once it hits the death age it will say "unnamed is growing old for its breed and may pass away soon". When it dies, you will be able to get it back, but you will not be allowed to contract it back out.

 • This may be a silly question then but 8 weeks is 2 months in VP land correct? So if a breed has a lifespan of 12 years a male should not be trained past 12.9.3? Maybe? Just double checking

 • Do you mean 11.9.3? I'm pretty sure 8 weeks would be 2 months. So if it died at 12, you'd have to create the lease before 11.10.0. I can test it out if you'd like, but I'm fairly certain it'd be 11.10.0. :)

 • Yeah, sorry that was what I meant. That sounds good, I'll leave a few extra weeks to be safe. Thanks! :-D
