So Angry.

edited June 2011 in Vent
OHMYGOD, I am beyond angry. So the person my mother left Dioji (my dog) with until July (when he would be flying down to Georgia with my sister), decided she is just going to keep him. Why? because She, her family, and dog that they own are attached. They have even changed his name and refuse to send him with Kat (My sister). UghIamsoangry. I hate people.

  • I'm pretty sure that's illegal..

  • Yeah.. They can't do that. He is your dog by law. Do you still have the papers proving you bought him?

  • do you have proof of ownership, like his papers or anything like that? If so, call the cops. Just having the cops give them a call might be enough to get them to give him back. If not, they may be able to press charges for theft. Or you could take them to small claims court.

  • I have veterinary papers, but those are the only papers. We got him from a friend as a puppy, so nothing official.

  • I'd think vet records would at least be something, as long you have them from the time he was a puppy to (around) the time you had them watch him. Could you get in contact with the friend who bred him and have them give you a written statement saying they gave ownership to you? Do you have pictures of him with you and/or family members? As long as you can prove you had legal ownership of the dog, and you didn't transfer ownership to them, then you should be able to get him back. In the eyes of the law, he's a piece of property, so if you need to you can sue to get him back.

  • I can and will. I'm going to see how it plays out over the next few days and see if we can get him back just by talking to the woman. If not, I am preparred to press charges since my mother cannot (she is in Georgia).

  • Good luck, hopefully you can get him back without having to go to court :)<br><br>Out of curiosity, what type of dog is he?

  • OMG I would have lost my mind. I don't think they can do that, and if they feel that strongly about him they should go rescue a dog with his personality.I know in my state our dogs have to have tags and if you look up the tag number they will tell you who the dogs owners are. I cannot believe someone would do that.

  • Ugh people disgust me. <br><br>Ok I have found out some information on how to get your animal back. Of course call the cops and acknowledged that you know that they have the dog. I think the cop has so see the dog so he knows that isn't their dog. <br><br>You have to take them to small claims court and bring receipts for any expenses on the dog. Bring any e-mails, texts, phone bills that you had with that person to let he court know that you asked for your dog back and they said no.<br><br>In some states dogs are considered personal property, and that's basically theft.<br><br>Also is your dog registered in your county like microchipped?<br><br>Or you can have the police escort you over there and physically get your dog back. <br><br>Hoped I helped a little.
