Research Papers..

edited April 2011 in Vent
I hardly vent but this just insane! As a requirement, we have to write a research paper every single year. Now we have to write one for sure in my honors English class or we can't graduate. Research papers in themselves are just a big pain and huge headaches. I finally got my paper done but was told that I could fail because I didn't have a -full- 8 pages. I have maybe 2 lines on the 8th page. This is not acceptable still so I have to go back and add more. Doesn't matter if I was going to get a good grade on it (She said low A range) because quantity is apparently the same as quality. Phooey xD

I tried adding more and I'm about 30-50 words from the 9th page and I know I need to type more. I thought I was done with this but noppee! Grr! xD

Hope everyone has a happy Friday =)

 • Oh wow... My college english teacher assigned us three books to read and a large packet of questions to answer over them in the last four weeks of school. we arent going to be here for a week of that and be busy as heck the other three weeks. which a lot of us skipped this passed week for state testing since the seniors didnt have to take any. so we have two weeks to read three books and answer a huge packet over them =( It wouldnt be too hard besides the senioritis.. haha I feel your pain Tarn!!!!
 • We have to do one every year at my school too. I personally like doint the research if your allowed a topic you are interested in.

 • I could read three books really fast. I wouldn't mind a packet xD That stinks though, I would not want a bunch of work before the end. I don't have senioritis yet thankfully!!

And mysterous.. they are a lot harder as you get older, especially in an honors class. Ours wasn't even over any issues. The paper was supposed to be talking about a novel that you chose from a list of authors.

Here's a small excerpt from my paper:

The main character Ajax is one who is a prime example of the tragedy that can result from limiting oneself to a fixed set of parameters fabricated by society. This failure to not only meet the expectations of society as well of the expectations of himself leaves Ajax to believe he is no longer able to live within his world. In Ajax by Sophocles, the author utilizes the devastating effects of boastful heroism for the purpose of showing how acting within a rigid self-identity that is cultivated using a value system created by societal expectations and comprised of historical morals and past behaviors results in tragedy.
