Raising Rabbits!

edited April 2011 in Vent
IM IN LOVE WITH IT! Ive been doing it for a year now. Ive gone through the trials and tribulations of having a bad non producing buck and thinking ive been doing something wrnng, to the joys of my first litter, the death of my 125$ BEW ND buck that i was planning on showing, to winning GC buck and doe at our livestock show, the pain of having a doe killed by dogs to selling my babies to go to their new forever homes. All i can say is it teaches major responsibility and i love it. Im still working on going to shows and building up my stock but ive been through so much already with my babies i dont think i could ever do away with them without feeling a rush of emotions. All the stuff ive learned with them already! The technical of raising and breeding, care and maintanence, showing, genetics. I dont think there is much id take to give away what ive learned and recieved from my experiences and i hope it does nothing but grow. I plan on starting to show throught the ARBA and big livestock shows in my state. Ive just over joyed that i just sold my litter and got 80$ in one day. Cookies for all who read

  • I love mine! Ive got 3 does and a buck that are my breed/show rabbits and i also have two pet rabbits that live in my room xD
  • All mine are mixed, therefore pets. =] Their genes are all connected, so definitely not breeding (that, and they're mixed)! =P<br>I only own four. But my sister owns the fifth one and I consider him to be mine too because she's only eleven and doesn't take care of him as well as I'd like, so I step in.
  • One of my inside bunnies is my cousins. She is moving here in two months (her family owns land next to mine) and i am bunnysitting Olive until she gets here to take her back. But in the meantime Mr. Twist enjoys having a friend LOL. My best friend who lives with me also has a bunny. a Mini Rex.
  • Aw bunnies are awesome! I'm trying to talk Mom into letting me have another one. I had an agouti dwarf, named Cocoa. He was really good, I'd let him out of his cage to hop around the house, and when he had to go to the bathroom he'd jump back in his cage. His favorite toys were plastic measuring cups, he'd pick them up by the handle and slam them down.

  • Yays for bunnies! Saibh is going great, and hopefully her... lump will go away so I can start breeding/showing :D Do you know how to get them to stop being territorial? I've tried lightly tapping her nose when she tries to attack, but it hasn't been working >.<
Is quiting due to no time, anyone can contact me at my nonpersonal email coconaur@aol.com
  • Some rabbits are just like that. I have a doe i hand raised who doesnt like humans because when we tattooed her the tattoo clamp got stuck through her ear and she's hated me ever since.
