Any Car People on VP?

So I have an opportunity to get a 1965 Mustang 289 HiPo for $4,500. I have pretty much decided to get it, It has some minor body rust and some small parts (a keyhole on the trunk) but has all the chrome and the motor is friggin' fast, seriously we turned left out of the dealership and were in third gear instantaneously ,seriously I love it. So structurally and Engine-ly it is amazing. But, visually it is deplorable ( seriously, I found a dead mouse during the test drive, the seats fall apart and the windows need resealed and blah, blah, blah, but they seem simple things, plus it's cheaper to get it than most of the japanese plastic things I've been looking at for my car. So, really I'm asking for sites/expertise on the subject if you know of/have any. Thanks for reading, have a cookie.

 • What exactly are you going to do with it? The '64 Mustang is my all time favorite car.

I would seriously have a classic mechanic check it out. If it's not all original, you may be able to negotiate a much cheaper price.

Sounds like yours needs several thousand dollars worth of restoration if the interior is rotted and needs body work and that's just to make it safe. They may be simple things, but they all add up. The seats falling apart could be a serious danger if they fail with a fast stop or a sharp turn. You may think the windows need resealed, but if water is getting into the interior, check the floors that they aren't rusting from the inside out, same thing could be happening to the doors and trunk.

Please have an expert check it out.

I am planning on restoring it to the point I can afford, bui'll probably drive it until I can't any more Thank's for the advice

 • Awesome! I <3 old cars! I dont really like the new Mustangs though cause they really do look plastic to me xD but thats my opinion. I like the older Camaros and Chevelles those are probaly my favorite older cars that aren't Dodges, I personally don't care for all Chevys xD
