I'm in a fine arts black and white photography class, and I just thought I would share some of the stuff I've printed. We're using SLR film cameras, with black and white film only, and we develop everything by hand, film to paper.

This here is called pinhole photography. For our first project, we made our own cameras out of cookie tins. We first spray painted the inside of the tin and the lid black, then poked a hole in the lid of the tin, and a pin sized hole in a smaller piece of square tin. Then we lined the holes up and taped the tin to the lid, and placed black electrical tape over it to make a 'shutter'. How this works is, when light hits an object, it hits it in straight lines and makes a reflection. If you eliminate some of those lines, only one line of light will hit the object and bounce back. We went in the dark room and placed light sensitive photo paper in the back of the cookie tin and made sure it was sealed up tight so light wouldn't get in, went outside, took the 'shutter' off for a few seconds, and replaced it. When you develop it, the picture looks like a negative (dark where things are white and light where things are black), and it is upside down and backwards. Here's my pinhole negative: (click these for bigger images)
<a href="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/002-1.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/002-1-1.jpg"; alt="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/002-1-1.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

And here is the positive of the pinhole after we put it under the enlarger:
<a href="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/001.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/001-1.jpg"; alt="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/001-1.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

And here are some pictures from our angle of view project:
<a href="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/004.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/004-1.jpg"; alt="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/004-1.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<a href="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/003-1.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/003-1-1.jpg"; alt="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/Sea-Oats/Photography/003-1-1.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

 • Yea, we can't edit ours either, but you can't really do that when you're developing them yourself in the darkroom at school. ;p
Thank you:) I'm still fascinated by how this works. It makes me wish I had a more convenient way to do it outside of school, it's a very interesting art form.
