Talking=Referral

edited March 2011 in Vent
Okay so at my school there are these things called referrals.. Where you get a paper that refers you to the principal for a punishment if you have done something wrong. They also call your parents. From what I have heard these papers are yellow. You can get them for things like cursing at a teacher.

Today in my German class I was sitting with my two guy friends. This day we only had 20 minute long classes because it was 'career day'.

We have the most not-nice substitute teacher ever for the week.. She once got our class in trouble with the normal teacher for not doing a test that she did not hand out to us. (That was last year in a different class.)

So we are allowed to eat in our German class, and some kids had ice cream. She yelled at them, which isn't that big of a deal and that doesn't surprise me.

But while I was sitting with my two guy friends she kept yelling at us because we were 'talking'. This is after she told us to read our German stories out loud to each other. Which is what we were doing..

Then she walks to a desk and begins to write stuff on a yellow paper (most likely a referral paper..) while looking up at us angrily periodically...

I'm going to be in trouble for doing what she told us to do, even though there were kids in that class running around eating their ice cream and singing.

 • I need to add to this..

My and my friends did get off topic once and a while, but we snapped back to what we needed to do after about a minute. I have never had a referral before.. And hopefully never will get one... Ugh..

 • My school has the same things. (Refferals.) If you get one, maybe just calmly explain that you thought it was unfair and you were doing your best? And the sub wasn't sure of the rules? Sorry!

 •
We have a sub like that here...but we just get little pink detention slips. ;;
This sub usually subs for either physics/chem or Spanish..we all absolutely detest her.
In Spanish, she constantly tries to "help" us. She seems to think that she knows how to speak and write Spanish, when I knew more than she does my freshman (first Spanish class) year...The really sad thing? I barely learned anything that year...I used the hall pass one day, and I took more than a minute (I did take 7-8, but who knows ifthere was a line in the bathroom, I got sick, etc?) so she starts asking the whole room about every minute if I was back yet or where I was..Now, normally I wouldn't care, but all the other girls that use the pass go out and roam the halls for 10-15 minutes..but I'm not allowed to take 5 to actually go to the bathroom and get a drink? I came back, she hollered at me, I sat down and was working, she gets up and goes to the phone calling the office, then asks the class if I was back yet. :| Like, you've got to be kidding me...She then wrote me detentions, and when she gave Señora them the next day, she completely blew them off-because I'm one ofthe students that actually do work and enjoy the language in the class. :/ I mean, come on now.
Now when she's in chem...a whole different story. I'd suggest that she needs fired for the crap she pulls. We're all minding out own business (and let's call her renna), you know, doing book work in groups. She calls out Renna and goes on about how she needs to stop talking, do work (which she was...) and the such. Renna has a temper, and she's not very tolerant..so she's obviously going to stick up fir herself and tell this sub that's she's doing what she's suppose to. Yeah, she has an attitude, but it's nothing to flip out over. This sub goes on and on, purposely tempting her to do something wrong (like completely flip and leave the room, which she's done..and I dont blame her) and continuously agitating her. A teacher (sub or not) is not suppose to verbally attack students and basically force them to do something wrong.

But anyway...I apologize for taking over your thread. D: The sub you explained just made me think about how much I detest this one. XD
And..I'd tell you what I would do in your situation..but it'd only ge you in more trouble, and I don't want to add to the corruption of students nowadays. D: The ones in my school are enough for a small country, LOL.
Although, I do feel for you..It's a horrible situation to be stuck in.. :/
