edited March 2011 in General Discussion
So Avenged SEvenfold is playing for the first time, near my town! About an hour's drive from where I live. It's two day before my boyfriend's birthday so his dad bought me, him, and my boyfriend all tickets to go! This will be my first concert and I'm SOOOO excited. Tickets went on sale today and I texted his dad earlier to remind him and he said he was about to buy them!! =)!! Oh my gosh I'm so excited!

A few other people I know (Like my bopyfriends best friend) it going to be there and we are all going to hang out together! I can't wait!

I know these are the three bands playing:
Avenged Sevenfold "Welcome to the Family" Tour with
Three Days Grace &
Sevendust
RIght now the tickets are only $41.75!! Oh my gosh. I know his daddy always gets tickets REALLY close to the stage. "Close enough to see their facial expressions" is what he told me last night at their house!! Oh my gosh! lol!

 • You'll have a blast! I remember my first concert was Avril Lavigne, then I slowly progressed to Simple Plan, Sum 41, Slayer, Marylin Manson... Oh man too many to count. Backstreet Boys... How I would love to go to the NKOTBSB concert this august. Green Day was an amazing concert and Evanescence. Taylor Swift was awesome too. Avenged Sevenfold... How I would love to add them to my list of concerts!

I'm sure you'll have fun Garnet! As for getting close to the stage... If it's just General Admission... For a concert like that there are no seats. Everyone stands around and pushes each other around.

Kitt's Concert Rules! (All learned from past experiences!)

Rule 1. Wear COMFORTABLE shoes, and no matter what anyone offers DO NOT BEND DOWN TO TIE SOMEONES LACES!
Rule 2. Dangling Jewellery is sure to be painful if caught on the sweaty person next to you's sweater/t-shirt/shoe (Don't ask)
Rule 3. Glasses... Consider them gone.
Rule 4. Loose hair is fun to pull, it hurts WAY less when up in a ponytail.
Rule 5. Find a BIGGER buddy. If caught in a mosh pit they will help you stay on your feet.
Rule 6. You will get wet. The bands tend to shower their fans with water from bottles that they have sipped from!
Rule 7. If you manage to get a drum stick/guitar pick. Place it somewhere safe! If it falls to the ground you can try and find it after the show.
Rue 8. When giving the metal sign to the band, do not stick your thumb out as that is the sign for "I Love You" and is kinda looked down on.
Rule 9. Try and stay away from freaky looking guys with hair longer than yours, guaranteed you will get some in your mouth otherwise.
Rule 10. Buy your merchandise AFTER the show... That way you won't lose it DURING.
Rule 11. You are 100% absolutely to come out of there deaf and mute! But just remember... It was all worth it in the end.
 • Omg I don't mind the spraying with water :D I'll prolly wear my converse or shocks and keep my hair up then! My boyfriend and his daddy will be there with me and Brian (BF) has already said if anyone touches me he's gonna hit them so I guess I'm covered there 0.0 He turned the radio in his truck ALL the way up today and told me the concert is going to be at LEAST that loud prolly louder. He said that his dad bout us pit tickets and we will be about 8 feet from the stage 0.0 Thank you for these tips!!! =D omg i cant wait!
 • Listen to the wise master, young grasshopper, and you will be just fine! Lol. Like I said, this is what I've learned from past experiences. Yes, I bent down in a mosh pit and tied my friend's shoe. Could have died except I had a bigger buddy who we met there that kept everyone back. I am apparently a legend. XD. I was at a completely different concert and I was telling my friend this story and the person in front of me turned around and was like "I heard about you!" My friend had earrings on at our first concert and she ended up having to go to the hospital because it was ripped out. I bought a hat at a concert and half way through someone stole it. At a Slayer concert, this guy in front of me had hair hanging down past his butt and was head banging, every time he brought his head up his hair would whack me in the face. I wore heels to the Taylor Swift concert and kicked them off part way through because my feet were killing me. I've come out with bruises and a sore head from having my hair pulled, but you know what... I wouldn't trade the experience for anything else in the world.

All in all, the mosh pit ends up being hundreds of people acting as one. You're all there for the same reason, to enjoy and pay your respects to the band. It will be a blast! Oh yeah... Don't bring a purse! Hide your money... Other places or give it to your bf to keep in his pocket. Tighter pants are better than loose pants as money is less likely to fall out. It's also easier for a girl to hide a camera to bring into the concert as most of the security is guys and they can't pat you down. They might pat down the guys your with though and would probably confiscate the camera.
 • =O Garnet, you are SO lucky to see a7x and 3DG!! I hope for your sake a7x sounds as good without The Rev (R.I.P.).

Have fun =D

 • Omg wow. Thats crazy!! So far, it's me, Brian, his brother, his sister, and his uncle :) Think im protected enough?
 • I'm sure you'll be fine. *knocks on wood* (Don't want to jinx it). I didn't mean to scare you or worry you, but it can get a little rough out there. If you're close enough to the stage, security is right there too. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to hold your own, but it's nice to have back up. :)
 • Yea! Thanks for all the tips!! I'll definitely remember them all!! lol I can't wait!!! Im so excited
 • I just saw A7X with Hollywood Undead and Stone Sour. They do an amazing show. (Ive seen them multiple times xD) I think they werer better with The Rev..but cant really do anything about that now. Ive also seen TDG, very good show as well. I went to a show where Sevendust played..but I had to listen from them from the street cause traffic was so back up..but it sounded good xD
I agree with the tips listed above, however I like to just go in a tank top so I can buy a shirt and wear it because everyone around here is size medium and likes to sntch up all the shirts before the show ends. Never ever wear open toed shoes until you want broken toes. If people start fighting and slam dancing or whatever they call it just ask a large man to stand in front of you, because they normally will. If youre crowd surfing, wear shoes that cannot be pulled off. Some people dont like you falling on their head and will steal them. Drink lots of water before you go cause its usually like $5 a bottle and you want to stay hydrated. If you get hot, get out of the pit. Its a lot better to watch from far away than to pass out up close and wake up in the hospital. Have fun! (:

 • Ha ha, I never thought of the shirt. Definitely snag a shirt if you want one when you get there! Don't be afraid to get aggressive either or you'll be ignored. A shirt is hard to steal when you're already wearing it.
 • How often do fights break out in the pit? 0.0
 • Oh! Okay! Phew! I was getting nervous haha
 • Even if an actual fight breaks out (Which always seems to happen to me D<) the people around you will usually end it fairly quickly. I once got punched in the face and like 4 dudes around me freaked out and took that guy out of the pit before I even could comprehend what just happened. Ive also been knocked down in the pit, but the people around me pulled me back up before I got trampled. Just pretend to be small and cute, it works wonders (: But dont worry about people fighting, Ive been to plenty of shows where I havent gotten punched too xD Youll be fine!

 • Omg I hope so!! I know I'll have my boyfriend, his uncle, his step brother, his step sister, and just today found out that my boyfriends best friend (one of my good friends) "Scott" Is going to be in the pit too so im sure im well protected!! :D
