You never realize how wonderful clean water is..

Okay, so I've been putting up with this for a long time, on and off for about 2 years! We have a well and our filter started having issues two years ago. It was an old filter, something like 30 years old so it's time was near. We know our water is high in iron. So when our water started to turn a yellow color and smell funny, something was up. I hated taking showers, I never smelled like I just took a shower, I smelled like iron. Actually I still do. We had our pipes cleaned out and it got better for about half a year, then it started to smell again, not to mention the filter was cleaning the media at 12 noon, when it was suppose to be doing this at 12 midnight. This is a problem when it cleans the media at noon. There is a reason it does this at midnight! If you run the water the disgusting water used to clean the filter gets in the lines. But at midnight, everyone is asleep so it didn't matter. The repair man said it need a new head. The head is what controls when the filter cleans the media. We had the head replaced a dozen times and the water was still.. yellow. Eventually we decided to buy a new filter. We had been trying to avoid doing this but, lets face it, that filter was.. 35 years old. It was time for a new one. We bought a new one, it was suppose to one of the best. Everything was GREAT for a few monthes. The water smelled great, I smelled clean. Everybody was happy. Then our water started to smell again. This made me furious, they spent about and extra 500 for this specific filter and it fails! The repair man came looked at it, couldn't find anything wrong and decided it wasn't cleaning the media with enough force. He puts in a bigger pipe leading from the well to the filter. Okay, great. Midnight, I wake up to an obnoxious swishing noise. Since it was backwashing stronger, it was louder. So, I'm also tired. I wake up for about an hour every night. What a waste of precious sleep. I figured it was worth a trade, though sleep for clean water. But it didn't help! the water still smelled funny! The repair man looks at it about 3 more times, takes the head apart a dozen times, can't find anything wrong. He decides to add a CHEMICAL that helps clean the water! A chemical! I wasn't happy with this, but it seemed to do the trick so I guessed I could live with it. Last night. I was taking a shower and the water turned yellow, and it smelled. I don't know what to do now! I'm just.. furious. My family has spent so much money on this filter and now this. <br>The only good part about all of this is that I've seen to learned a lot about filters
