People Who Tend To Act Like There Incharge..

edited February 2011 in Vent
Over the past couple months i've been looking through random posts, and reading throughout the forum. And i just recently noticed, that some people (not naming names) have been acting like their in charge... when i garrauntee they are at least 3 years younger than me. Its rather irritating. =l specialy since they are just regular Vp'ers. Maybe im the only one finding this annoying, but i find it this way merely because sometimes they get "rude" with whatever they say specially to someone who was just asking a question, or minding their own busines.. Sigh.. Im not old, im not too young either, i just get irritated by those who seem to be full-of-themselves..

  • I think you might just be sensitive. I've not come across too many people that really acted like they were high and mighty, but I have come across members that are very assertive, or blunt, in the way they type and respond to others. It threw me for a loop at first as well, but most of the time that's just the way they are, and they don't mean to sound so "rude". You get used to it over time, or at least I did.

Keep in mind that this is technically a public forum as well. If you post something, no matter what the subject may be, then you better be prepared for a range of responses, some which you will favor, and some which you won't. There is no just minding your own business when you put something up for the public to see.

I'd also recommend not focusing on age, because all you can do is speculate(it's against the rules to post you age on VP), which can be quite false at times and lead to bias. There are plenty of people here that "act their age" and then their are those that are the complete opposite of what you'd expect from their age group. I personally judge each person as an individual.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • I've been here for a while now and played off and on. I can see where you might be coming from, but here's how I see it...

I completely agree with what Sushi says, but I would like to elaborate on it a little bit. People may sound rude, but you can't get true feelings through a computer. People can type something they don't mean. It's hard to undo something that cannot be undone, it might not be that they think they are in charge, but maybe they are frustrated.

How you read something and I read something and how Sushi reads it can come out to be three different reactions.

"That's just great!" To you could be seen as anger, Sushi could see it as sarcasm and I could see it as an expression of happiness. So you see, it's kind of hard to truly understand what exactly the person is trying to say.
  • That's great elaboration, KittKattize!
I had a talk with my brother about this exact same thing not to long ago, because he tries to use sarcasm a lot over text, and some people just don't get it, including myself, which causes misunderstandings, and then fights. How someone reads something isn't always how the author meant it.

  • Exactly!

I've posted things in the past where people have taken it the wrong way or vice versa. Just got to remember not to get your back up when reading it. Which is sometimes hard for me, especially when it's against something I have said. I have a bad temper sometimes. Not that I ever mean the stuff I say.
