Another Month to Wait?!

edited February 2011 in Vent
Cannot wait for the end of february and the beginning of march! Ive had some things in the works and they all seem to finally give me my results around then! First, my horse is pregnant. She's a paint so im pretty sure the baby will be too, and genetically there is like.. 6 different colors it can be, PLUS i wanna know what gender it is. The first 10 months were hard enough, but this last month she's going through all kinds of changed and every one excites me. I noticed yesterday that she is starting to bag up and produce milk. Last foal she had, she bagged up a WEEK before, but then again, that was her maiden foal and they are sometimes inconsistent. Im sooo ready for the baby to be here. Ive done so much work with her mom and ive spent hundreds on tapes and books and done research on how to raise the baby correctly. Also, i have the livestock show in late february. I sold my bottle raised calf JUST so i could afford a sheep this year and ive been working with my lamb constently so she would do well in this show. Sheep sold for 8,000 last year!! That would be really great for my foal and its breaking in the future! Plus ive got 3 breeders showing and i better get at LEAST one grand champion this year! And when i took my breeder rabbits to get validated i got like... 3 people asking to buy my bunnies O-o i told em id breed some and i have, so now ive got a litter planned for late Feb. They should be born the day before the show even! AND Ive got a horse show/livestock show that i get a week out of school for in February and i cannot wait for the epic SHOPPING that goes with it! Plus the competition, if you place well, gets a 10,000 dollar scholarship to the school i wanna go too but cant cuz my dad cant afford it!! Ive been studying my butt off for this week and im ready to blow everyone out of the water! Soo much excitement in my life LOL! Oh! And after the livestock show my horse project for 4-H is starting back up and we start team penning, and drill practices again. TWO TIMES A WEEK! Whooo! At least this year i have two horses to ride and my halter mare woulnt lose as much weight as she did last year LOL! Hurry up Feb!

 • AWESOME AWESOME AWESOMENESS!!! lol, while I was reading I was getting excited, and I'm not even involved in any of that!! haha...sounds like you take your hobbies seriously, I feel the same way whenever my dogs are in competition or when I breed them.
 • xD my rabbits are my breeding hobby, my sheep are my livestock showing hobby, and my horses are my training hobby. I plan to make a future from all of them, but mainly the horses. All this stuff is my life. I get kinda depressed, or unhappy during winter because its too cold to do stuff and i get stuck inside for hours upon hours gaining weight (booooo) So when it gets warm again (in was 70 degrees today! Wore a t-shirt!!!!) i spend ALL my time outside. I think im about to start documenting my gelding with his training. And i know im gonna get pics of my preggo rabbit and the livestock show. ive gained like... 5 lbs this winter but ill loose it in a few weeks after its finally warm. Thats when i start training both my show horses for the shows AND ill have my baby then too xDDDDDD

 • Awesome! Ive never rode one, Ive only ridden mixes,Quarter Horses,Paints,Appys,Mustang, and breeds like that xD
What are they like? I always think of Saddlebreds as the high stepping, weird standing show horses xD But your horse is ALOT different then most Ive seen :)

 • She's just like riding a regular horse at a walk, but her trot is REALLY lively and ive never loped on her. She's my brothers horse. However my riding horse is a tennessee walker and his trot can be either smooth or VERY lively depending on how fast i ask him to go and his lope is AMAZING. Its like flying in a good way. When the mare isnt pregnant and starts playing in the pasture... oh.my.god! She looks like an arab when she runs. She stretches and her tail flies up and she is FAST!!! She beats quarter horses in races. Plus her first foal, a qh cross also runs just like her. They crane their necks and pop their knees and kick up dirt. Its beautiful.
 • wow it sounds awesome! Your TN Walker sounds great too! :)

 • My mare is a team penning goddess. She is bred for it and as soon as we arrive and see the cows she gets excited. And drill is FUN. We get to dress up in costumes for costume drill and its like a story, and precision is about being able to do all kinds of tricks well and precisely. Its great xD
 • awesome! do you have to wear a certain thing for barrel racing and pole bending, this girl who starves her horses does it and she told me you do cause she doesnt want me to do it, even tho shes not supposed to wear pants, she copied me by doing them :O lol

 • I want to learn reining and im gonna see if my uncle will help me with it. He's a minor pro at cattle events <3
 • Sorry for late reply.

c: I used to do sorting with my horse (He was a head horse, haha), but he died last year. My aunt litterally JUST bought me a new horse, but I want to do jumping now, so I'll have to see what happens.

Lunging helps the horse bond sooo much! I went out with my horse everyday the first month I had him, and at the end of the month, he liked me more than my aunt. And my aunt had had him for 3 years before me! I hope this new horse is the same c:. Any advice for training an arabian? Not to mention stallion, lol.

oooh boy. Have fun LOL! Will arabs you need a special hand. Theyre very... sensitive. You have to be a very special kind of person to work with one. And with stallions in general they NEED a job to do or they will walk all over you. I know some people who own stallions that have a certain halter for working where he is expected to act like any other horse, and a certain halter they will use for when he is used for breeding. He knows the difference between the two and knows how he is expected to act with each one.
 • Haha, I know. I mean, I've trained arabs before, but never a stallion. I guess my aunt said he's just a little pushy and tries to get away with things. Once I move, he'll be living on the same property as me, which means more time just for hime! Hahaha. I just hope my aunt doesn't decide to breed him with her thoroghbred! Now THAT would be horrible!!!

 • I have a friend who wants to breed and train anglo arabs. LOL.
 • Haha, my horse before was an anglo-arab x quarter horse. It could've been the quarter horse half, but I'd say they're pretty calm, LOL.
