Horses :P

edited January 2011 in Vent
Ok so many of you know I call the horse, Sugar, mine, well she isnt technically yet :/ and I REALLY cant wait cause I am doing detasstling so I can get her and maybe a horse from auction and keep them close to me. I just cant wait till summer comes! I can ride horses ALOT more, especially if I get my "own" horse(s).
Anyone have any ideas for the wait to go faster?

 • Id do research. I can tell you some great websites (pm me for them) where you can talk to people who do everything from breeding, to training, to trail riding everything from ponies to chlydesdales. Thats what ive been doing waiting for my baby fal to be born, and it was been working. My preggo mare started bagging up this week so it would be soon ;D
 •
I've been stuck waiting until the weather gets better (and probably all the way until April/May) to lease my boy. I'd give anything to buy him..but he's not for sale (thank God) and I don't have the money. D: My mother doesn't support my riding (since it's dangerous, especially since Dude [horse I plan on leasing] is a chronic rearer and I'll have to retrain him from basically the ground up) and along with her being laid-off for over a year, I can't get any money from her. My dad gives all his money to my mum in child-support (don't see any of it since it goes to all her bills), so it's usually out of the question to be asking for $100 a month to lease a horse-plus all the tack and grooming supplies since I don't want to buy an all around saddle and have it not fit the next horse I ride (which will most likely be the case).

But anyway..I go to see him at the barn often, if I'm there, I usually groom him or just watch him out in the field while Drew cleans the middle barn (he's in the back field, so I can see him from the paddock). That helps, I've been waiting to ride him since last fair and I haven't gotten a chance. :\ Fair was in August, so I've been waiting a decent bit, haha.

I've also been watching Heartland quite a bit. After the first two season it gets more into the human drama, but there's still horses involved quite a bit. From what I've heard, the TV series is quite different from the books, so you can also read those and most likely won't feel like you're just rerunning it through your head again, haha. It only aires in Canada, so you'll have to find somewhere to watch the episodes online, but it's definitely worth it.
Also-horse forums help quite a bit. I have one that I'm constantly on that I could give you a link to if you'd like, it has everything from care, costs, and care to riding, training, and breeding. It's probably what replaced the time I used to use for VP, haha.

Other than that, just be patient. It feels even more rewarding in the end knowing you've waited all that time for just that.(:

Thats a great idea. If your wanting something to work with, get a trickier horse. After i "conquored" my mare i graduated to my gelding who has an attitude problem. He's been keeping me busy these days. Keeping me from dreaming of my baby horse
 • lol thats good!
