Finally.
I've finally gotten my permit. *flails*
I did miss the 3 questions though..all about underage drinking *facepalm*. You'd think they'd get their liscence suspended, ya know?
I'm soo excited though, my daddy and Uncle Paul are gonna teach me. (:
I got it yesterday, ate a bunch of food at CiCi's and then went out for my first "lesson" :D
We just drove around the church parking lot a bit..just worked on stopping, parking and actually going, lol.
It's actually easier than I expected. (: The only thing I found really difficult was using my mirrors and all the damn blind-spots..they're so much more noticable on the driver's side xD
I'm using my daddy's company car though..so I must be -extremely- careful, so that should make me a better driver overall, eh?
I really need to work on the judgement though o.o I was way too close to the curb, lol. Or not even on my side..
But overall-I'm actually very happy with myself. (: My last park job was perfectly centered, all I needed to do was pull up another 6-8 inches.
I believe we're going to be working on more parking, backing up, turn signals, and whatever else he asks me to do today. :D
It's a shame none of us trust my mum trying to teach me..we all came to the consensus that I'd end up killing us. *sigh* It happens though, I'd rather my daddy and uncle teach me anyways.
But yeah..that's my good vent. (: Thanks for taking the time to read, haha.

 • Helpful hint? Stay calm. The only good being tense does is that you'll ache when you get out of the car. Have some confidence in yourself and you'll be fine. :)

 • I've had my permit for a year and a few months, and guess who's STILL terrified of driving? xD So much to the point where I haven't tried for my license?

Really it's not that hard tho'. xD Start out slow, and don't worry too much about other drivers. Assume they know what they're doing. Stick to your lane, and worry only about the person in front of you.

 • Eh.. I would worry about more than just what's in front of you. Fact is, some people just should not be on the road and for some ungodly reason, they are licensed drivers. You should be aware of everything around you. I don't know how they do driver's ed where you guys are, but.. they told us to make sure we're using our mirrors CONSTANTLY, especially when we're on the interstate, and don't just focus on one spot when you're driving. You need to be looking at everything through the front window as you possibly can. Say someone in the other lane, on a two lane street, swerves into your lane and you're in danger of being hit head-on. You don't want to have your head too far up the person's bumper in front of you, you want to be able to avoid being hit. Which is also why they tell you to keep at least a 3 second space behind the car in front of you.

 •
Thanks for the tips, guys. (:
I'll probably be stickig to parking lots for atleast another month or two, so I shouldn't have to worry too much about other people, but I've definitely been trying to use my mirrors as much as I can.
It's a little more difficult to judge the size of the vehicle that I'd normally be able to judge...it's wierd, lol.

 • Congrats!
I'm going for my permit test tomorrow, since my last permit expired before I felt ready to take the actual test(it expires 6 months from the day you get it).
When I took the written test for my first permit I also missed an underage drinking question, because I put that they couldn't have any, but the correct answer was no higher than 0.01%. Talk about a trick question!I guess it's to take into consideration medicine, or something.
The learners permit allows you to practice driving with a person that holds a license. Typically you take a written test to receive it.
A license is what you get after receiving your permit. It certifies that you can efficiently, and safely drive alone. Typically you have to take a "behind the wheel" test with a DMV employee to receive it.
That's how my state works. What do you have?

 • I never had to take a drive with an official with me.
I just had to take a permit test and when i went in for my
16th birthday i took a picture and my liscense arrived in the mail
3 or 4 days later. Kinda bad thought because i didnt even read the
drivers ed book or practice at all before i got any of it. I used my
cousin's outlines and highlighted book to study from for about 30 minutes
and went and took the test and my dad "recorded" my non existent
practice hours. BUT then again, they STILL dont let me drive anywhere
unless theyve driven with me there before. Its kinda rediculous =\
 •
Newf:
-We have to take the written knowledge test for the state of PA, or something like that. I wish we didn't have to take a test. xD I would've been so much less stressed that day. o.o

Sushi:
-We actually have ours for a year before it expires..and then you can apply to get it extended even longer. The earliest we can take our driving test (with a DMV employee, or the such) is at 6 months..so, I can take my test on the 18th of June next year. (: I think I'll be ready by then..my daddy and uncle are both great teachers, even though I know my uncle will be much more strict with it all. He's rather intimidating, lol.
-For one of the underage drinking questions they wanted to know what happened if you were to get caught driving, while intoxicated. I kind of figured that they'd suspend your liscence, but apparently you only get a $300 fine. :\ That's just..not very safe, IMHO. D:

Vampy:
-Lmao, I wish we didn't have to take the driving test. o.o I've heard the ones that are actually around me are extremely picky and will fail you if you don't completely exaggerate everything. .-. Which will be difficult for me to do, at least I think it will be.
-I never actually read the book... ;; I just took a crapload of practice tests on an app I downloaded on my touch pod. xD
-We can't get our permits until we turn 16..which I find a bit unfair, considering most others I've heard about can get theirs when they're 15-15 1/2. Oh well, I guess. :p I'll just have to deal, lol.
-My mother won't let me drive anywhere when I get my liscence, I'd bet just about anything on it. I'm pretty sure my dad, aunt, and uncle will let me though..They have a lot more trust and confidence in me than her. She use to go on and on about how she was going to get me my permit and take me driving all the time and teach me, but she didn't even want to let my dad get me my permit. :\

And I finally saw my SS card. I'm 4 1/2 months from being 17 and I've just now seen it, and found out my..number. I didn't make a point to memorize anything but the last 4 though.

 • I got mine at 15 and got my liscence at 16. Ive seen driving by myself for almost 2 years. of course i dont like leaving the house unless i HAVE too because id rather be home workin with Blaze and Tawny. But i do go to school and back. Thats usually the extent of my driving. Im happier home than anywhere else.

Out here if your permit expires, then you have to do the written test again(lame!). Also, as long as you are over 18 out here you don't have to have a permit for a specific amount of time before taking the behind the wheel test, but all minors have to have it for at least 6 months, and complete 60 certified hours of behind the wheel practice before they can take the test. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore, because I want my license before summer. I'm aiming to take the license test in March or April.

The amount of times I actually practiced could probably be counted on one hand, and it wasn't fun either. My mother is horrible to drive with. She's one of those people who freaks out(hyperventilating, screaming, flailing, you name it!), waits to long to give instructions(like suddenly telling you to turn when you've almost cleared the intersection!), and distracts you with non-stop random stories when she should be telling you how you are doing. I'm hoping to practice with my uncle and grandmother this time around, since both of them have successfully taught other family members to drive. I hope your learning experience is a lot better than mine has been up to now.

Ha, I'd probably put the same answer as you. Honestly, they probably would suspend your license(out here I know they will for sure), but I guess the fine is the answer they wanted.

 • Driving in fun fun fun ^.^
Except when people cut you off >.>
I'm a rather agressive driver, I tend to yell at people while I'm in the car...even though I know they can't hear me. lmao
Honestly, just have safe fun, and remember it is a privilage to be able to drive ;)
I have a drivers permit, I just got confused when I saw the whole test part for it, since we don't have that here.
I assumed it was driving, then got confused and thought it was a food handlers permit, then my brain went back to the drivers permit XD
Excuse my confusion! I am very easily confused and I tend to confuse myself by over thinking XD
But I love driving now, I was terrified, now I drive everywhere. (With an adult of course!... Except for a few times on my friend's farm.. Haha)
