*sigh* Art: nothing I can do about it

So on an art site, I posted this picture nearly a year ago (except the notebook rings aren't there >.<):<br><br><br><img src="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/009-Copy.jpg"; alt="http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/Quiggles_101/009-Copy.jpg"; class="bb-image" /><br><br><br>Yesterday my friend called me and said "someone stole your art!!!"<br>I flipped out.<br>Turns out they didn't steal my actual picture, but they took the concept. Making it almost identical, just using a different color ink and adding some quote.<br>The "funny coincidence" (sp?) is that I submitted my picture to the same group they submitted theirs to just DAYS before this was posted.<br>They are getting ALL the credit for their picture. I mean 20 times the amount of credit I got<br><span style="font-weight:bold">Mine:</span> <br>FAVES: 142 <br>VIEWS: 8295<br><br><span style="font-weight:bold">Theirs:</span><br>FAVES: 4,476 <br>VIEWS: 22,199 <br><br><br>I mean...<span style="font-style:italic">seriously?</span><br><br>There's nothing I can do about it >.<<br>UGH!!!<br>I didn't add my copyright or anything like I should've.<br><br><br><br>UGHH!!!!

    In my opinion, neither are completely original, and I personally don't think they are so similar that action should be taken against the "copycat." Assuming you had put a copyright on your image, I still don't think anything could be done against the artist. Was it a little distasteful for them to not talk to you first? Yes, but only if they had truly been inspired by your piece. There is a big enough chance that they had seen the heart design elsewhere, got inspired by the song, and put it on lined paper, because writing things on paper and photographing them is a big trend at the moment.<br><br>You may already know, but they have linked to your image in their image's description.
