Kinda funny

edited November 2010 in Vent
So the other day I was in WalMart helping my grandma get sweat pants. She has a bad back so she didn't wanna bend down so I did that for her. She went to try a shirt on while I was searching for sweatpants in her size. Every time I found a pair in her size it was in a different color, so I put one of each color in the shopping cart.
This lady comes up to me while I was putting the sweatpants into the cart, and while my grandma was off trying a shirt on.

Lady: Where can I find an extra large shirt??
Me: I'm not sure..
Lady: Are there any in this store??
Me: I think....
Lady: Well then how come you don't know where they are?!?!?!!
Me: Sorry, but I don't work here.....
Lady: Oh..

It kinda made me laugh XD

 • lol. I have a very similar story. It was kind of scary for me though.I got confused for an employee of Home Depot once, because I was wearing a vest(I assume), and the lady got so nasty about it.

Me: *looking at on sale trashcans by garden center door*
Lady: *Walks in door from garden center* Do you know where the palm tree fertilizer is?
Me: Ugg, I think it's on the wall over there. *walks back to my mother down the isle*
Lady: Well that doesn't tell me what I need to know!!
Me: *said nothing, but was thinking "Why's she mad at me? How am I supposed to know?"*

About 10 minutes later my mother and I go outside to the garden center, and this lady approaches me again, but my mother is with me.
Lady: What's you name? *has a nasty smile on her face*
Me: Why? *freaking out, because I don't know this lady, and she's mean*
Lady: No reason. *Another nasty smile*
Me: *cue panic attack and 45 sec silent stand off*
Mother: Her name is -insert real first name-.
Lady: Thank you. *walks away*
Me: Why'd you tell her? We don't even know who she was.
Mother: Maybe she thought she recognized you?
Me: Oh.

About 5 minutes later we go to check out and that lady is nearby talking to the manager. I was listening, and that's when I realized the lady thought I was an employee, and decided to report me because I didn't help her, and wouldn't give her my name. The manager ended up asking if I was the girl, and when the lady confirmed, he explained that I didn't work there.

 • Reading that actually made me really mad. That lady just assumed she was right, and even if you did work there, did she honestly have to go act like a five-year old tattletale and go straight to the manager?
It was horrible. Sounds like you got a little attitude too, right? I don't understand why they just get so mad without thinking "Maybe they don't work here?"

I never understand why she was so sure I worked their either. The only thing I can think of is that I was wearing a vest, which a lot of places use as a part of employee uniforms, but my vest wasn't orange, and had a hood(which has this cute apple print on it). You know, I was also pretty young then, too young to legally work at Home Depot, so I really have no idea what this lady was thinking.

If I did work there and treated her like that, then I can see it being understandable that she wanted to talk to someone about it, but I didn't work there; I was just a normal, freaked out kid that wanted to go back to my mother's side. Nevertheless, I'm sure she was pretty embarrassed, so she got what was coming to her so being so nasty.
