Lunch Snack Bar Lady

edited November 2010 in Vent
There is this snack bar at my school that has random things like chips, drinks, and tater tots.

Every day I get chicken strips and a Brisk tea.

Today I learned the lunch lady rips me, and other people off...
Her prices depend on who you are.
Normal price for a brisk tea: $1.00
The price she made me pay Wednesday: $1.50

I learned this today by asking to buy one.. She told me "Okay that's $1.50." I told her "Nevermind" left, and got my friend to buy me one. She spent a dollar on it..

This isn't the only food item that this happens to, it's most of them, and I'm not the only person she has done this to.
It wouldn't be a big deal if this didn't add up over time. At my house money is tight right now and this is the last thing we need to happen.
It's not just that, it's also just plain wrong to do this...

I'm going to talk to my school's office about this, (After lunch, I'm going to capture this on video in case.) and if they don't believe me I will then show them the video. I will also interview people about this if it gets too far.. I'm not sure if she's pocketing the money or not, but I'd like to find out, and make an end to this :/

I agree, talking to the office is exactly what you should do. Try getting your parents to chime in too, because the school is more likely to listen to an angry parent.

The only legitimate reason I could see the lunch lady doing this is if your school charged everyone a higher price on certain days, or if kids whose families bring in less money got discount, but you normally have to put in a code or show a card in order for the lunch people to know that. If it's none of those, then it's pretty shady, and sort of sounds like discrimination(unless she is doing it randomly).
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
It's completely random.. When I got my friend Sarah buy me one it was about 5 minutes after I went to buy one myself.. And you only get a discount if you buy through the lunch line, which is pre-paid lunch.

  • Well, then it sounds completely shady, and you should definitely report it. Good luck, I really hope there is a good explanation, or that the lady gets whats coming to her for ripping off children.
