I think plain ol' Secret Santa would be he easiest, but if we can successfully organize something different I'd be all for it.
Funds permitting, I'd also love to see some form of an art contest that everyone can participate in, whether they are photographers, writers, painters, crafters, etc.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
Yes, I was actually planning to auction off our unmade imports and two gifties, if I received support for it, to help boost our total funds. I believe we're tackling the biggest holiday for our very first time and it will require a lot of funds, but it's worth the task. People would love it and look forward to it next year. =]

Secret Santa is still an option or we can fuse some together or do it at the same time. We would need a group of members to help, hopefully most will, and dedicate time to do all the things we plan to do.

Coaster, yes. That would allow new artists to jump up and take a hit at it. It will also encourage new players to join the community and enter the events that could help better their skills and share them with the community. =]

Maybe have a 'Breed of the Month' contest? Or have one every two months. xD A breed of dog is randomly selected, and people can choose to draw a picture, or write a poem, or tell a story about that breed. We can have Artistic (Photography, Drawing/Painting, etc) and Literary (Poem, Story, Essay, etc) categories, each judged separately?

...though that kinda makes me want to start up the VP newsletter again.
Hm.

I love the idea, but I worry about the suggested 1-2 month time period. It seems long to me. What if we ran something like this every 2 weeks, so that it's an on going mini contest of sorts? A shorter deadline would mean we'd be able to cover more breeds, which would make more people happy, since everyone has their own favorite breeds. Doing it more often would also encourage a lot more activity within the club and community. The downside would be that running it so often would mean smaller prizes to conserve funds, and more work for the members.
The reason I suggested 1-2 month span is to give everyone time to get in a quality entry. The prizes would be smaller, yes, and the entries would be rushed.
I think a 'Breed of the Month' is an excellent idea I think if it was held over shorter intervals then it might just be too much work. If it's held each month then everyone who is interested should have time to participate.

I think, for Christmas, secret santa is always fun. We would definitely need to remind people not to ask for things like sponsor upgrades though xD

Perhaps we could post a list of possible gift ideas, for example trainings, unmade imports, show dogs etc. and a rough value of each, to help people decide what to give? Also, I think it would be cute it everyone had to write a short letter to Santa, with one or two of the things (on VP) that they would most like for Christmas. That way it could help make sure that the giver doesn't accidentally give them something that they really don't need xD

Christmas competitions would be great. If we can get he funding, I think it would be nice to hold competitions that appeal to people's different talents. So, an art competition like a card-designing competition, as well as a Christmassy creative writing competition etc. Maybe we could even do some sort of trivia?
I absolutely love the letters to Santa idea. It's festive and practical. Gifts are always great, but sometimes you receive things you really have no use for.

For the Christmas competitions, if someone donates a goodie dye (if this idea goes through, I'll definitely try to), we could have a holiday-themed dye naming contest to create a 5 oak. The winner of the winning color receives a pup, and then we have a raffle for the other four?
Ooh Moss, I really love the Santa's letter idea. It'd really help us and the gifts. =]

The holiday events would be cool. Like "Is your dog good enough to work for Santa?"

Search and Rescue: The Elves lost a few presents, find them!
Herding: Get the Reindeer to Santa's sled quickly!
Weight Pulling: Help lead Santa's sled!

or something like that. xD

But these are good ideas so far. =]

The Goodiedye one would also be awesome if we could afford it. Quite pricey though.

Hehe. I love those event names, Shay

If we could get a hold of one, a goodie-dye naming contest would be awesome. A raffle for some of the dyed pups would be great too, because raffles are very Christmassy. Reminds me of those turkey raffles that places all seem to do around Christmas time xD
I guess it just depends if you want it to be more along the lines of a serious competition, or something fun to keep everyone active. The reason why VP member held contests typically run so long is because the person holding the contest wants quality work for their money, but these contest entries wouldn't necessarily be for anyone, or anything, and thus quality isn't necessarily the most important aspect to look at. Likeliness to the breed would be the best thing to judge them on, in my opinion. For example, you could have a rushed doodle of a dog that isn't perfectly painted, or cleaned up, but if the pose of the dog captures the breed's personality perfectly, more so than a polished piece, then I'd say it would be the winner.

If it's a serious competition then 1 month should be good.
If it's not very serious, then I find less time to be better.

I think we'd have to organize a substantial income of funds to cover this as we are planning for Christmas, probably the biggest holiday to cover on VP. I believe the event will take quite a bit and we should wait until we have better ways of receiving funds. I would donate more, but I'm getting low and cash and am trying to find a way to be lazy and earn money regardless. xD

On a side note:

-Christmas Dog Events
- Artistic Events
- Secret Santa
- Days of Giving
- Giveaway

These are the ideas so far, correct?

When I get back from Thanksgiving break, I can offer doodle commissions and give 50% of the proceeds to VAA?

The trainers in VAA could also get together and do like... A group car wash. xD Except training dogs. Offering 280/200s without aggro for tips of 50k or more to other sponsors, and 10k or more to novices?
EDIT:
And we can make it like a fundraiser where the winner gets like... A cute little banner or part of the proceeds made or something.
I'm tired of the game and I can't control my anger. If anyone misbehaves against my girlfriend, I snap. If anyone acts up on my friends, I snap.

I can't control my anger and am a hypocrite for starting the association and wanting to 'better' it when I go and flip out. People go around and insult each other because they don't get there way on here even during a free giveaway. They ask for what they can't have.

I'm not good enough for the position to make things better and I'm done with this game. It's been grand. *bows*

I hope people will continue this association even though Shay and I will be gone.

Oreo, if you haven't gotten the login info for the treasury kennel, you can pm me for it on here.
Okay, first of all I think this idea was INCREDIBLE! Such a great purpose!
So...I'm sure we can keep it going. I will gladly step up to keep things going ^.^
Anyone questions, concerns, ideas please PM me so we can keep this going. I will gladly help arrange for new elections or anything that may be needed.
Remember, council members can just choose someone for chairman or simply leave it be. =]

I will be online every now and then and will probably poke in and give ideas to brainstorming if I'm allowed to voice in the association.
Thanks

It's sad to hear this new. Shay, please think about it for a week or so. This was your idea, and we could really use you as a member. You'll always be the founder, Shay. Your ideas and input will always be welcome. If there is no convincing you to stay, then should we create a new thread, so that the main page can be edited as needed?

Turns out I will be sticking it out because I have to finish up some things and I want to finish a goal of mine on here. Sorry to cause any...feelings if there was any for me.

Raymond- We determine whether you fit qualifications. Link to kennel? =]
