HELP! Weird thing happening...

I've got this weird thing going on a couple of times a day. It used to only happen once in a while but now it's more frequent. My fingers get all tight and numb and weird feeling. It's really weird a little scary...does anyone know what this might be?

*Mostly happens in one hand at a time, usually the left
*Can't feel it when hand is closed/holding something
*Can feel it when hand is still or I'm moving/shaking it
*I can move them normally, but it feels weird
*Last from 5 to 20 minutes then goes away

My mom thought it was something with my circulation and told me to move my arm but it didn't seem to help. Please tell me what you think this is! Thanks.

I haven't had ay migranes after. It's not exactly numb but sort of tingly and numb at the same time? Kind of like it's falling asleep. And achey, but not in a painful way but a heavy, tight way? It's really hard to describe.

  • I looked it up online and now I'm a little scared. All these possible conditions popped up where you might need surgery. Someone said diabetes too. Ah! I'm scheduled for a check-up in December but I don't know if I want to wait that long now.

  • Rule of, pardon the pun, thumb is to not look up your symptoms online! They come up with a lot of scary things that aren't too likely of happening. It told me my dry skin was scarlet fever. I wouldn't trust those. :)

Seeing a doctor would be good if this persists. If you aren't showing severe symptoms, you should be ok. If you're that worried, I would switch your appointment so you get a peace of mind.

  • I had the same experiences when I injured my hand in softball. I was told I pinched a nerve in my hand.
So whenever I bent my hand or hit a certain srea, it bumped the pinched nerve causing numbness and tingling.
That is my guess as to what it could be ;)

Exactly... To me it sounds like a minor pinched nerve and very doubtful it's anything life or even lifestyle threatening or needing surgery. If it keeps up, see a doc.

  • Sounds like a pinched nerve. I have had a lot of problems with my hands since I was young, and I get that all the time. Doctor looked at it, said it was most likely a pinched nerve, and told me to rest it for a week.

I wouldn't worry about it, but if you already have a doctors appointment, then bring it up when you go.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
