OK.
So, this post is a little belated. Actually, I - well, my dog tbh - totally whooped butt on Saturday, but whatever. I can still party and celebrate a week later. ITS ALLOWED. Well, I hope it is. -.-

ANYWAYS.
He almost didnt pass because he -nails- were a little "pointed" and he was shedding "too much".
I was like... uhm... you're kidding right?
He's an indoor Great Pyrenees in Southern California - there is no way he ever STOPS shedding.
But, the dude was like... wellllll, just go through the rest of the test and we'll see how it goes.
Well, I showed that dude up. Or the dog did, teehee. And he passed us.
I almost killed my dog in my eagerness to congratulate him. Not that the stupid dog even realized what he accomplished.
Instead, he tracked mud into my car and made sure he got that wet dog smell stuck to the seats.
Yay for a wet SoCal weather! -.-

But yea, I just wanted to share that with you guys. :)
And CGC stands for Canine Good Citizen.
You can find more on it here: <a href="http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/training_testing.cfm"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/training_testing.cfm
He's hopefully going to become a therapy dog soon...
Hopefully.

  • Congrats~
Sounds like the guy was picky. I think it's weird to expect a pyrenees to not shed, especially in SoCal.

I'm also in SoCal, and not loving this weather.
My dogs think it's great to go running around the house at top speed while wet. Wet paw prints all over the place.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • Congratulations that's great. What did the guy expect it's a great pyrennees of course it's going to shed especially in South California. Good luck with getting him qualified as a therapy dog I'd think a big fluffy dog like that would be great as one
  • Congrats :D
All good things must come to an end. All endings will begin new good things.

  • Putting a CGC on one or all of my dogs has always been a goal of mine. But at this point, it's kind of stupid. Em's artritis is too bad these days for a stranger to come along an touch her. I should have done it years ago.

Congrats to you and your Pyr!
  • Tyty guys ;D
Yea, I was going to do it a hella long time ago when it was first offered to us.
But he was like... black from rolling in mud and I didnt have the time to bathe him before the test.
Damn dog takes four hours to get clean - well, if I really want him spotless.

My other dog would be perfect for the CGC but he's dog aggressive.
And sorta people aggressive too... otherwise, he would pass. -.- Damn dog.

Anyways, yeap.
The CGC is a great thing for your dog to get into anyways...
Even if he's not going to go into another field other than being your own lovable pet.

@ZagWolf,
aw. D: but it's alright.
Your dog sounds like a total sweetie, despite not having a CGC. ;)
