Im not a spoiled brat!

edited October 2010 in Vent
Ok so yes i am am spoiled but not by choice. I perfer clearance racks and bargain stores, its my dad whos materilistc. Now my little brothers on the other hand, a rotten, little brats! Everyone hates them! I heard a babysitter on the phone when she thought everyone was in bed say "yea the kids are spoiled brats" same with family, they say "Jamies kids are spoiled brats." And it hurts! When we have a cleaning ladie come once a week, I sometimes forget, and i feel soooo bad when i dont clean my room, I refuse to have another being clean my room. I think its wrong, its my job and my responsiblty.
Does that sound braty? Now my dads assistant is waching us tonight because are babysitter got sick, and I see her daily, along with her son, because I walk to the office from school. I heard her on the phone saying (to her son wich is becoming a friend of mine) "all of his kids are brats! And ugh it just annoys me.

 • When someone calls a kid a spoiled brat, it doesn't always refer to if they are materialistic. I think kids that run around all crazy, and back talk to adults are spoiled brats. One of my nieces is that way, but she is never punished for it, so she won't learn until she grows up and the real world tells her that her attitude won't fly in everyday situations. Unfortunately a lot of kids are that way, and they'll just have to grow out of it. Don't worry to much about what people think of you or your family either, because sometimes people just like to create drama and blab about things. If you work on being a good person in life, then that's all that should matter.

As for cleaning men/women, it's just a job, not a servant or slave, so don't feel bad about having one. It would be like going to a fast food place or restaurant and feeling bad that they are cooking your food for you. It also doesn't make you bratty or spoiled to have a cleaning person. TONS of people have nannies, maids, gardeners, dog walkers, etc. to help them out. It makes the live of some people a little easier, and it gives other people a chance to make some money.

All what you said is true, but they dont just say spiled brat, they say materiallistic and stuff and its soooo not true.
 • Just don't worry about it. It's all nasty gossip.
It's your family's money, so it's your family's choice on what it gets spent on. It's not your problem that other people aren't okay with it. That's their problem. Almost everyone is materialistic to some degree. I love my xbox, and I'm not going to feel bad about that, because I worked for the money, saved it up, and purchased it on my own. I'm sure your dad works hard for his money, and spends it on what he wants too. I'm sure all of these people that call your family materialistic have worked hard and bought items they liked too, so in a way they are no different than you. As I said, just make sure you are good person in life, and don't worry about the gossip of others. If they would rather judge you based on your young brothers who sound like they still have a lot of growing up to do, then why should their opinion even matter to you? Clearly they don't want to take the time to actually get to know you.
Age isn't a definitive factor. Anyone can be mature, and anyone can be immature. It's up to you to make the choice on what you want to be.
