Halloween is over~ Did everyone have fun?

edited November 2010 in General Discussion
Okay, let's get a Halloween count down and discussion thread going since it's now October.
Sorry if it's not that big of a deal to anyone, or if you don't choose to partake in the holiday, but I get excited, because it's when I choose to celebrate my birthday. Speaking of birthdays, be sure to check which members are having birthdays this month at the VP birthday thread: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=68447"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=68447;

So what are your plans?:
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?:
What costume did you pick?:
Favorite candy/treat?:
Halloween memory you're fond of?:

So what are your plans?: Hanging out with my best friend, brother, and mother to celebrate "my birthday." We normally play video games, watch movies, act silly, and have fun.
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?: I really want to get a costume, but I have no idea what I want to be!
What costume did you pick?: My friend, brother, and I were all thinking of doing a silly Western theme(Cowboys, Native Americans, Mexicans, etc), but I think that idea isn't going to happen. Any suggestion for costumes? I think I want something funny.
Favorite candy/treat?: Hmm, peppermint patties or baby ruths.
Halloween memory you're fond of?: Went to a haunted trail(like a haunted house attraction, but you follow a path through a forest), got chased by two performers, which caused me to back up into another performer, and then I bolted. My cousin, aunt, and I went to Dairy Queen after that, and while standing in line my cousin noticed I had fake blood all over the back of my arm and shirt from backing up into one of the performers. I can only imagine what other people must have thought with me walking around like that! lol.

 • Our family celebrates Halloween, but we don't really get into it like some people do. We don't really celebrate the "scary" part either. Some people decorate with witches, ghosts, and zombies and we may just put out a pumpkin or two.

So what are your plans?: I might be going Trick or Treating with one of my best friends. A little childish but who dosen't want the candy?
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?: I'm not sure yet. I probably will dress up but I don't know what. I'll mostly have fun helping my little sister pick out her clothes. She want's to be a rockstar but I want her to be a horseback rider. I'm wondering if my helmet and boots will fit her.
What costume did you pick?: Not sure yet
Favorite candy/treat?: There's way too many. The only ones I don't like are Butterfingers, Snickers, and most hardcandy.
Halloween memory you're fond of?: Making my own costumes when I was younger with my parents and little sister.

 • Yeah, we don't go all out either. We did for about 2 years when I lived somewhere else, but now my mom just puts a few things out now, so people know we are giving away candy. My mom loves watching all the little kids in cute costumes.

Is trick or treating childish? I know some people find it childish, while others think it's for all ages. I think it's for all ages, but the older you get, the more boring it gets. Now, if everyone decorated there houses(like some people do at Christmas), then I'd love to walk around and see them(candy is a bonus), but most people don't put much out anymore. My family just buys candy, and eats whatever we don't hand out.

Ah, you don't like Butterfingers or Snickers? I'm curious, is there a specific reason why?
My brother loves Butterfingers, and I think Snickers are okay.

 • So what are your plans?: Im probably going to volunteer at the trunk or treat for the advocacy center and do the trick or treating for canned goods. Plus i will be going to all the corn mazes i can this year xD
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?: of course xD
What costume did you pick?: Rodeo Queen. I won the crown. Might as well show it off haha
Favorite candy/treat?: Sour Gummy Pumpkins. Thank you mom for keeping us stocked LOL
Halloween memory you're fond of?: The first corn maze i ever went too. Garnet kept getting mad at me for stepping on the hem of her jeans when we got chased LOL

Most of my halloween fun is through charities and such but i do get a few chills from when i go out with Garnet and her dad and ususally all the gang too. Its always amazingly fun.
 • That's very kind of you to do all that volunteer work.

I was considering rodeo queen/rhinestone cowgirl as well(since my friends/family are all considering western stuff)...but a very exaggerated(all pink) version to be funny. I dunno if my friends(boys) would find it funny though. They probably wouldn't. Congrats on your crown by the way. My cousin was rodeo queen out here for years, until she had to retire due to age. I always wanted to participate, but my mother wouldn't let me.

Are the candies pumpkin flavored, or just shaped like pumpkins?

What's a corn maze? A maze in a corn field? I don't think there are any out here, but they do the hay/alfalfa bale mazes all the time.

@Vampy: MY FAVORITE JEANS AND YOU RUINED THEM!!! XD We are going to another corn maze this year if you wanna go. I talked to Joey about it tonight =)

@Sushi: Basically, yes. A corn maze is just a maze that is cropped into a corn field and they have a haunted one for Halloween. They hide people with masks in the corn and they jump out to scare you. At one, a guy chases you with a chainsaw! We all screamed and ran! A mechanical pig even snorted and popped outta the corn at us! Some of them are pretty scary! I know last year, the only part that scared me was the guy scrambling towards us on the ground 0.0

So what are your plans?: Corn Mazes, Halloween parties (good kind), bonfire, and a few school events, as in, Truck or Treat and Trick or Treat for Canned goods!
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?: YEEEES =D
What costume did you pick?: Young Adult Mrs. Clause
Favorite candy/treat?: Candy Corn!! • Thanks for the info Garnet. Sounds a lot like the haunted trail I went to.

lol, Mrs. Claus for Halloween?! That's funny!
Candy corn! Really?! I think it taste like your eating candle wax. I've never been able to eat it. It's pretty to look at, and decorate things with though.
The train derailed? Please tell me it was just one of those small ones.

No problem!! =D

Yes, Mrs Clause xD I know.. Weird, but this is it, <a href="http://i54.tinypic.com/n6yyx0.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i54.tinypic.com/n6yyx0.jpg; =)

Candy Corn is epic! D= I steal all of Vampy's when she brings it to school xD
Yes, Derailed, and it was pretty good size! D= It hurt the heck outta my back when it started shaking and jostling around. We thought it was part of the ride at first. Until we saw that the train really was off the track.. It was kinda scary 0.0

This is the train: <a href="http://www.betterphoto.com/uploads/processed/0930/0907212039351train_coach_car_40d_img_3705.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.betterphoto.com/uploads/proc ... g_3705.jpg
Just without the black railings on the sides. It was all open =)
 • That's actually really cute.
It looks like a picture from a pattern pack. Are you sewing it?

lol, if we lived by each other I'd give you all the candy corn I got. I really can't eat it.
Wow, that's like full sized! I'd be so scared if that happened while I was on it.

 • So what are your plans?: Celebrate my birthday and stay at home passing out candy. I like seeing the really young kids all dressed up and seeing the teenagers try to mooch candy and have ridiculous costumes.
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?: Not dressing up.
What costume did you pick?: n/a
Favorite candy/treat?: I really like sour patch, butterfingers, reeses but I most likely won't be eating any candy this year.
Halloween memory you're fond of?: I don't have a fond one really, but I remember when I was trick-or-treating with my best friend at the time and she stepped on my tail and it came off (I was a cat). We were going up someones porch and I think I started crying. The lady that lived there helped me put it back on and I still think she remembers me to this day. She would always hand out dimes/nickels/quarters instead of candy.

Haha Yea im sewing it =D
I'd LOVE to steal all the candy corn you had! haha xD
I know I was just sitting there with three of my friends like "Wow.. Really..? This part of the ride is stupid and kinda hurt" They were like "It's real!" and i was like "No, It's not.." Then found out it was when I leaned out the side and noticed that men were working on the wheels trying to find out why it derailed.. haha xD
 • Unfourtantly we live between two bridges and only have one neighbor we can see without going under the bridge, so we don't get a lot of trick-or-treaters if any. I would love to stay home and pass out candy to all the kids, but we normally don't even pass out candy. Our neighbors across the street say they only get a few people anyways.

I don't like butterfingers because, well, I just don't like them. Lol. I just never liked the taste. Snickers are okay, but they're really not my favorite. I do love sour gummy worms though!

 • Halloween is the best holiday if you ask me!

I dont really have any plans yet. I want to go to a party or have a small one with a couple friends, but who knows what will actually happen.
I really wanted to be Alice in Wonderland this year..but the costume I wanted was way to expensive. So Im going as a cute little pirate (:
I really like Twix. Or almost anything chocolate xD
I dont really have a favorite memory from Halloween night, but we celebrate every Friday and Saturday and go to like 20 haunted houses/trails/mazes every year. I'd have to say one of my favorite memories from one of those was one year I went with two friends. One of them was trying to act all tough and brave and was like "Ill go in first!" But when we went inside she got extremely scared and made me go first. So she was holding onto the back of my shirt and an actor popped out and she lifted her arms up an ran off screaming, only she took my shirt with her because she forgot to let go. Then another actor popped out and goes "RAW-You arent wearing a shirt?" It was -hilarious- even though I probably should have been embarrassed standing there half naked xD

 • So what are your plans?: Nothing much we're doing fireworks and that's about it.
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?: Not dressing up
What costume did you pick?: N/A
Favorite candy/treat?: Chocolate anything really. Most people here give out money instead of candy anyway
Halloween memory you're fond of?: Sleepover at my friend's house. Her birthday was the day before Halloween and my other friend's was Halloween so we had a joint party. It was a lot of fun
 • So what are your plans?: None yet, hopley someting spooky with some friends. Taking little bros trick or treating, or possibly visiting mom in TN
Have you figured out if you are going to dress up?: Non yet.... I was thinking a Pirate, but I kind of wanna be someting random. Like crazy wig and neon colors?
What costume did you pick?: Up above (; I will always dress up till end of eternity
Favorite candy/treat?: Hmmmm im such a sweet tooth I cant decide. I like it all!
Halloween memory you're fond of?:
Being with my grandpa (l: He had bonfires in the woods. Lots of fun, nows hes dead and so is our family )=

All I know is that we have bits and pieces of a pirate costume laying around. TWIX! Oh those are so good! We just bought some big bags of candy today, and it has Twix in it. OMG! I would be so embarrassed! I can't believe she took your shirt!! lol, the actor's response!

danae11: Fireworks? I've never heard of anyone doing fireworks on Halloween. That's pretty cool. Just be careful. They give out money?!! Wow, I've never heard of anyone doing that either.

So, my family went to a costume shop today. Just one of those Halloween ones that pop up once a year. Lots of cool decorations, but not a lot of costumes for adults. I just hate how all the adult costumes for girls are so revealing! Ugh! They had a some Native American and cowboy stuff though. We didn't get anything, but my brother and I are thinking of mixing it with zombie stuff if we do buy it. lol.

Also stocked up on some big bags of candy.

 • I'm in the UK everyone has fireworks over here. It's not good for some dogs but it's normal
 • I have no idea if they ever figured it out or not =( They got everyone off the train and we walked the tracks the rest of the way to the next "station" then we all loaded into the back of some pick ups and they took us on all these dirt trails through the woods to get back to where the corn mazes and stuff were at (where we started) It was actually kinda interesting and definitely different. My dad said we weren't going back to that one though because it wasn't as good as the one we went to before (the one Vampy went to with us).
 • It's now 27 days until Halloween!

Why don't you guys celebrate Halloween? (not trying to offend you if this does. just curious) =)
 • I live in Australia :) Halloween just isn't something we celebrate much here, I'm not really sure why not. A few people dress up and go trick or treating, and some places have Halloween sales and events , but it's not a big deal like it seems to be in places like the US. I suppose some people in different areas might celebrate it more though. ^_^
