  • I THINK most people use Gimp. You can download it for free. Just google it =)<br><br>I use paintshop pro<br><br>and a few people might use photoshop. but those last two are expensive i do beleive =)<br><br>some people use just plain paint and do pixel art type stuff i think =)
  • I actully have gimp, but i have the second and it seems very difficult. I will play with it though, its so confuzzling. By expensive do you mean 50 or like 500? I really want a store bought one. Thanks Garnie (=
  • I've never looked at prices. My photoshop was downloaded illegally by my brother. As soon as i found that out i uninstalled it and got it off my computer right away. Thats why all my art is hand drawn, i dont want that occurring again so i just dont fool with digital art anymore lol
  • oh wow that oober odd. I bet if you started back up, youd be a good artisit
  • id be rusty xD haha i want a tablet for my birthday though =D
  • whats a tablet? And rusty just adds some speacial pizzass
  • I officialy hate gimp! Its ooooobery dooobery confusing )=
  • its like.. lol.. look it up xD i cant explain
  • I bought a Wacom Bamboo fun tablet (I think it cost about $300 Australian) and it came with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 as bundled software. It's not as fancy as CS3, but it's still a great program :)

  • Definition of a graphic tablet: <br>
A graphics tablet (or digitizing tablet, graphics pad, drawing tablet) is a computer input device that allows one to hand-draw images and graphics, similar to the way one draws images with a pencil and paper. These tablets may also be used to capture data or handwritten signatures.
<br><br> They can range from about $50 to thousands of dollars depending on size, brand, and how advance the tablet is. <br> I use a Wacom graphire.<br><br><br>As for recommended programs, I recommend Photoshop Elements. It is considerably cheaper, and easier than Photoshop, though a new version of Elements is still bound to run you about $80-$100. However, I must say that almost any good editing and art program is going to be just as difficult, if not more difficult, than GIMP. Don't expect to learn how to use it over night, because it will take a couple weeks of playing around with settings and tools, before you start to completely understand everything. A guide book is another good option that can teach you how to use such programs, but these books can cost $20-$30 on average.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • Thanks sushi (; I think I will try that photoshop thingy. What egzactly can you do with gimp?
  • Tablet: These are things that are hooked up to the computer with a cord or wirelessly. They are basically like pads that come with pens. You move the pen across the tablet and that line will appear on the program you use (most tablets will come with a program that the tablet will work on). They very between maybe $50-thousands. The kind I see most people use are about $100. Just so you know, while a tablet makes drawing on the computer easier, it does not make you a better artist. If you can't draw on paper, what makes you think you can draw on the computer? (this is a rhetorical question xD). Basic art knowledge applies no matter if its digital or traditional. <br><br><a href="http://www.tritech-computers.com/store2/images/Wacom Bamboo Tablet Med Black CTE650K-10PK.jpg&quot; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.tritech-computers.com/store2 ... K-10PK.jpg</a><br>*Wacom bamboo fun tablet is what most people recommend I belive.<br><br><br>And gimp, like most things, requires time to learn. After you use it for awhile and explore it, you get to know it. At first it looks confusing (most graphic programs are) but like I said, mess around with it and play with the features. Thats the best way to get to learn on those. There are also guides on using gimp in the tips and tricks section. :)<br><br><br>*********EDIT: just as I went to submit sushi posted xD. I find it funny how we used the same price range (or maybe I'm easily amused)

  • wow guys thanks. You guys are great help. The tablet looks amazing, and im a good artisit so ive been told so id enjoy using it! Thanks (; I think that might be what I ask for, for christmas (im like 12 and do not have that kind of money) but i was going to as for a personal breed, but i guess i can just buy that myself after saving some babysitting mulah
  • I use Corel Paint Shop Pro 11.<br><br><br>It was about 100$ when I got it about 3 years ago, so I'm sure it's price has dropped (if you can still get that version) I think they're on version 13 or something now. I dont really pay attention xD<br><br><br>I'm still finding new things on it... so you learn all the time with a program. The first year is pretty rocky, so just by switching a program, you aren't going to be able to use it any easier really xD You could look up tutorials for GIMP since so many people use it, there has to be tutorials all over the place. I dont like GIMP, bu then again, I'm so used to my program it's really pointless for me to learn, so I didnt try very hard xD
All good things must come to an end. All endings will begin new good things.

  • I would say use GIMP and learn that before you go out and buy something like Photoshop.<br>I downloaded the free trial, just to see what it's like, and in my opinion it's a lot like GIMP.<br><br>I personally use GIMP and think it's amazing.<br>You can do almost everything in GIMP.<br><a href="http://i54.tinypic.com/6srxbb.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i54.tinypic.com/6srxbb.jpg</a><br>That's the latest thing I did with GIMP, so you can see it's a great program.<br><br>It took me a good three weeks just to get the basics.<br>To get to the graphic making I'm at now, three years.<br><br>I would say try GIMP, and if you need help, PM me, I'll help you out to the best of my abilities.
  • I use CS3, CS5 (depending on the computer xD) and Paint Tool SAI. I used to use GIMP, and now I just can't even look at it without my brain exploding.<br><br>As far as tablets go, I use a Wacom Intuos 4, which cost about $500 USD. It was a birthday/Christmas/anniversary present from my husband. xD Amazing tablet for experienced users, but horrible for newbies. My first tablet was a Wacom Graphire3, which was small and only cost about $80.
