Memorization, how do you do it?

<span style="font-size:90">Well..for my drama class, I've realized that I'm goigg to has to memorize things a lot more than I thought I would.<br>Not a huge deal, right?<br>I'm not the best at memorizing things, especially lines.<br>I now have a monologue bigger than the last duet lines I..partially memorized.<br>So, how do y'all memorize things?<br>I've been told to just read it over and over, to write it down multiple times, etc..but it's just really hard for me to do. So anything would be helpful .-.</span>

  • Well, I've done lots of musicals and I find that if I do the scene over and over or say it over and over it just sticks in my head. I don't really sit down and try to memorize it, I just get it after a while. Try to keep practicing it and it might stick in your head. If not, just keep reading them over and over again.

  • Usually what I do with long monologues is learn them line by line. Memorize a sentence, say it out loud. Memorize the next sentence, say them both out loud, memorize the third sentence, say all three out loud, etc till you get it all memorized. :] In my AP Theatre class we had to learn a monologue each week and perform it to the class, and that always helped me.
