The kid's in my Digital Media class were talking about Feral Children and watching some youtube video with our teacher... but what is a feral child..? 0.0
It's a child that was denied human interaction for several years. Genie is a classic example, and another is Victor. Genie was locked in a room for... 14? years I think it was. No human contact. She was chained to her potty or something similar, if I remember correctly. She never learned to speak, and didn't know classic human interaction skills.

Genie
Victor
Just as Kyt said, there are. In my psychology book Genie was used as an example. The biggest window for learning is when you're a child so if you dont have interaction or learn basic things like speaking, it can be very difficult and even impossible in some circumstances. Have you tried learning a foreign language in high school? Learning a second language is difficult if you haven't grown up with it. Same thing goes for what your native language is supposed to be. Main point, if you have little interaction during your window of learning, it can have serious affects. ;D
A child denied human interaction. Often they barely learn to speak or sometimes even walk and it's difficult for them to learn to interact with other humans. We did them in sociology with the example of two girls raised by wolves. It was very interesting. I think one of them did learn to be sort of normal but the other one never could
Wow.. Yea I took three years of Spanish and only learned enough to pass the tests i had to take to get my credits.. I still only know the small simple words and phrases =/I can imagine it would be hard to learn those things.. Wow.. I feel so sorry for those children =(
I have no idea what channel it was on, maybe NatGeo or Discovery, but a couple years ago(maybe longer) there was a big documentary on feral children, including those given no human contact, and those raised by animals. It was very interesting, and very sad.

It was on TLC I believe I watched it like 5 times, it's so fasinating to me. It makes me sad and angry, but the way the children respond to the reviving of contact and the people who make it happen amaze me
Some people just don't deserve to have kids. Or, can't handle them. Or, that's how they were treated themselves while they were younger. Though I highly doubt that Genie's dad was chained to a potty-chair for thirteen years of his life. I wonder if she's still alive?

The article said so down near the bottom. Only said her mom died in 2003
Yes, you're completely right. TLC sounds correct now that you mention it.

it's maybe not as sad as you think. at least not the ones that are feral b/c they lived in the wild. it's the only lifestyle they knew, and i think it's kind of sad they were forced to rejoin the 'people' population. that tlc special pretty much proved that feral people reintroduced into civilian living never really adapted.
