Puppy Help

Okay, so i've had my puppy for like 2.5 months and she is almost 8 months old. She is now having a serious digging problem! She was doing good for like 2 weeks, and it started again. My dad is getting really sick of it and is threatening to send her back. This is the first place I thought of to get help. Any ideas on how to get her to stop diggin and how to scold her when she does.

-Breeding

 • Mental stimulation.
 • What kind of dog is she? Dogs usually dig when bored. Train her new tricks, play with her, make her think.

 • Take her on long. long. walks. Every day. Then she'll be too tired to dig. 8D

 • Thanks ya'll. Shes a Lab/Springer Spaniel Mix. The fact that no one is home for most of the day due to school and work makes it hard for us to be with her, until we get home. We give her bones to knaw on but she likes to run around with them instead.

 • You have an incredibly intelligent mix there and a very high energy one. It isn't fair on a puppy to be left alone all day like that and especially a cross like that. Could someone possibly come home play some mental exercise/games with her for even 20 minutes at lunch? It would make a lot of difference. Even get a pet sitter or someone to come in and do it. Both breeds love using their noses hide some treats around the house/yard and get her to sniff them out, try doing clicker training or look into agility when she's a bit older. You'll see a huge difference in behaviour when she's more tired and mental stimulation does that much faster than physical exercise.

I have to agree. I have two lab mixes, and today they are calm and well behaved. Why? Because we train them a lot, I do agility with them, they have lots of physical and mental stimulation. Any puppy, especially that sort of mix should have lots of things to keep them entertained. Give her a long walk in the morning, if possible come home at lunch and then lots of playtime/another walk in the evening.
