Running?

Ha. I found out why my shins would hurt every time after a run. I can't hear my flat-footedness over my iPod. I fixed that, though, figured out some proper form [back straight, stomach sucked in to train abdominal muscles, and run from either middle of your foot forward, or heel-toe], and I'm actually enjoying my nightly runs now that it doesn't absolutely kill my shins.

Does anyone have tips? Water carrying tips, running up hills tips, etc.

And does it make me [and my family] paranoid to wear a Road-ID? My mom told me to wear hers last night when Eric and I went running. Does anyone else have one, or want one, or even heard of the website?

<a href="https://www.roadid.com/Common/Default.aspx"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">https://www.roadid.com/Common/Default.aspx;

 • I have no idea how people can run or jog going from heel-->toe...
If my heel hits first, I lose all balance. :/
I have horrible shin splints (or whatever you want to call them) and my shin muscle contracts and presses on my shin bone...which is what I've summed my shins always hurting after I run (or even speed walk).
I ran today, and I'll be limping from both the pain in my shins (which lasts a day or two afterwards..) and my sore feet. I don't think I'll ever actually be able to run without it hurting, so I'm going to stick with not. .-.

But anywho-back on track to your post. xD
If you carry water with you...I'd carry two bottles, one in each hand-to stay "balanced out", or something along those lines. :p
I would backpedal uphill...Thats what Drew and I do whenever we end up having to walk the 2 miles from the bus stop to the barn, it takes a lot of stress off of both the calf muscles, ligiments (that attach your calf muscle to your ankle..or whatever those are called, I don't know the terms. lmao), and (I think) the shins.

I've never heard of the website. xD
I don't think it makes you paranoid to wear one though, it just makes you cautious and wanting to be prepared for if something were to happen.
I'd never wear one, personally..but that's just because it would get annoying on my wrist and I'm horrible when it comes to my safety. ;; I don't wear a helmet when I go riding (alone or with a group, and don't critisize me on this..I've already heard it enough, your opinion won't change my choice), so I don't even see how my mum would think I'd wear something in case of something if I went for a walk, rofl.
They do look pretty..fashionable for what they are though. :p

 • Can't give to much advise, since I'm the opposite of you(arched feet and run toes first). The biggest would be to listen to your body. I fractured my foot 4 weeks ago, ignored it as typical aching from pushing myself harder, which only made it worse. I finally get to start running again this evening.

What about a backpack for water bottles? Carrying a couple extra pounds might help your body work harder as well.
I only run for about 20 minutes at a time, so I just hydrate before, and after.

I don't use an ID, because I doubt it's important when I run in my own house. lol, treadmill. However, I do think it's a good idea if you are outside running, especially if it's at night. You never know what will happen. Something as drastic as getting hit by a car, or something as simple as passing out from pushing yourself to hard. Unless you are able to take an ID card with you, then I endorse the idea of wearing those bracelets.

 • Vamp: I'm not going to crit you for not wearing a helmet when riding... I didn't either, the few times I went. Even though I fell...Heh. I'm extremely uncoordinated, I think it has to do with carrying extra poundage. My issue is, I'm not a picky eater. I never have been. I love to eat. I love to cook. I love to watch people cook and then eat what they cook. I love fresh veggies, which they don't seem to have a lot of farmers markets here, and I don't feel like looking around. Back home, we had Pipkins and then the people down the street have a garden and a stand. But. I eat, and eat. I don't control portions, and whatever. I don't drink pop/soda/whateverthehellyouwanttocallit as much anymore, just because if I don't drink diet, my dad flips. And aspartame gives me a really bad headache. Plus, it's bad for you... Big time. And it tastes yucky... And coffee shouldn't fizz. Ha.

And then my foods teacher said, "You guys live in a generation where you will probably die before your parents."
And then the websites say, "Overweight and obesity can cause diseases, clots, cancers, and other dangerous illnesses."
And then my food teacher says, "Think of it this way. When you do your homework, would you want to sit in a sterile room, on a stainless steel chair, by a stainless steel table, or would you rather do your homework on a nice, fluffy, soft couch? Disease is the same way. They would rather do their homework on a nice, fluffy couch than in a steel room. Disease loves fat cells."

And I stared at gummi bears, said screw this, and chose a tangelo. And I've been going to the gym a lot more, and working on leg/arm/core strength.

I'll have to do the water bottle thing...

Sushi, I'm not flat footed. I have an arch, but I run flat footed. And it killed my legs. I thought it was because I wasn't stretching, but I started doing that, and it hurt even worse. So. My mom is coming up with a workout plan, and a friend of mine came up with a workout plan for me. And, mom'll run with me. Dad won't, because I'll be left in the dust... Plus, I really don't need to hear things about my diet and if I had watched my weight sooner in life I wouldn't be dealing with this, and etc etc.
I kinda want to say, "I eat what you guys cook me, and what you guys put in the house. I'm fifteen years old, I can't drive. I can't shop. I don't even have a JOB!"

Anyhow. I have to go do my homework... I'll talk to you guys later.

And I'm gonna get blood tested and get one of those made... ;D I like them.

[This'll help my swim times...And my soccer, hopefully...And maybe my softball..]

 • Oh, I see! I thought you were flat footed. My mother is, and has to have support.
That's nice that your mother wants to go with you. No one ever wants to go for walks with me! I'd love the fresh air, but it worries me to go alone, so I almost just use the treadmill to run.
I also agree with what you say about food. I know that if I lived in my own place, and shopped only for myself, then I wouldn't eat so much unhealthy food, but since my brother pretty much only eats junk food it's easy to stray from eating healthy. However, my mother apparently is listening to me, because she went on a vegetable shopping spree yesterday at the farmers market.
I'd rather go with my mom, but my dad would work me harder. It's just. It took me two years to build up self esteem, and took two different people to help me out, plus a weekly meeting place and better grades, weight loss, etc. My brother has been known to take an entire sleeve thing of Pringles to his room, or to the loft. Or goes and gets some form of pop at 10 in the morning. And then yells at me when I tell him no, saying he wishes mom was there, etc. And my entire family has a weight issue, aside from my dad. My dad loves diet drinks, I refuse to drink anything diet. Or anything with Splenda, or some Aspartame based sweetener. Which, in turn, pisses him off.

Here, the farmers markets have gotten into trouble from buying their produce from Harris Teeter, or Lowes Foods, or some other grocery store, and passing it off as home grown. Which is why I'm going to start growing my own veggies. So I know what's being put onto them, etc. The soil here just isn't good... D<

I'd love some fresh white peaches or some Ohio-grown white corn...Or some fresh beans... God, I miss Pipkins.
The ones I'm talking about are on the street corners ;] Which, why you would buy produce off of street corners is beyond me.. I'm actually thinking about taking that one area in front of the two windows facing the back yard [kinda in the middle, where the hose thing and that little garden table-and-chair set is at] and tilling it/laying down some good soil, and growing tomatoes and green beans there, just because I like knowing where my food comes from now.. Horray foods class!
