how do you do your hair? :P

edited September 2010 in General Discussion
I have been having trouble putting my hair in a style i like. I tried teasing it (epic fail.) Straightening it, not my favorite. It's naturally wavy. Any suggestions?<br><br>I'll put a picture of my hair up soon.

  • How long is it and what styles do you like?<br>I have really long hair that is a mix of big curls(as opposed to tight ones) and waves. I mostly straighten my hair, but sometimes leave it natural when it's not acting crazy. I like to leave it just straight, or put it up in vintage styles from <a href="http://www.girlznight.co.uk/magazine/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/vintage-hairstyles.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">fancy pinup styles</a> to <a href="http://www.blowmyhair.com/images/ClassicUpdo1.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">sleek 1960's beehives</a>. Occasionally I'll curl it, and then back comb it a little to get <a href="http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Nail+Queen+2009+Awards+Ceremony+Jx8KdAeU8bnl.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">big fluffy curls</a>, but it a lot of work to do if your in a hurry.<br><br>Doing your hair can take a lot of practice, so don't give up.<br>Also, try different products.Depending on the texture and thickness of your hair, some products won't work.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • I usually just straighten my hair, put it in French braids overnight and have it wavy from the French braids in the morning, or leave it natural, which is a wavy-ish curly-ish mess XD<br><br>Nobody on here has seen my hair before, so I think I'll put a picture up too :3<br><br>I can also back comb my hair, but I don't care for it on me.

  • Maybe try getting some products specifically made for managing curly/wavy hair, and using a curling iron(one of the big fat ones) to define some waves, or add loose curls?

  • This last weekend, my sister-in-law gave me a couple "elastic hair combs" and I've loved them. Though my hair is pretty straight and fine, they actually stay in, (unlike single hair combs) and you can do different things with them from ponytails to just pulling your hair off your face to french twists and they're quick and easy. Nice to be able to change hair style quickly, heck just to do a hair style, without resorting to rubber bands and it actually looks better too. LOL I imagine they'd look even better if my hair did have some curl to it.

<br><br>I'm afraid of hot irons to tell the truth. If i ever straighten my hair its usually because i have no choice >.<

  • I feel ya XD my hair is so curly its unreal, it doesnt look real, so what i do is straight the curls out so its not poofy or uber curly, then brush with a little comb and then comb off my bangs to the side and leave it wavy.. then again i do have shaggy hair XD so it might work different for you, that and i kill my hair once every two months with hair dye
